We always appreciate our seniors here at the garden! Starting tomorrow, every Tuesday: July 12 - end of August, we’re offering free coffee to seniors☕️ In addition, the Bee Line, a free hop-on, hop-off tram service, will be offered most Tuesdays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. – please call ahead to check.

Activities are geared towards adults so dust off those snow pants and grab your warmest mitts and toque, you're not going to want to miss this fun filled date night!

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

UPDATED DEC 9! - In consultation and with guidance from public health officials we are happy to announce that Luminaria will continue as planned, from Dec. 11-31. We have paused operations for a few days (Dec. 8-10) to ensure we exceed safety guidelines. We will contact ticket holders for Dec. 8-10 directly to arrange refunds. We're very pleased that we can continue to offer a peaceful, uncrowded outdoor winter experience.

The Friends of the Garden is a not-for-profit organization that supports the garden and is funded solely by our community. When you donate to the Friends, your donation goes towards the growth and maintenance of the Garden & educational programs for children, rather than towards staffing, advertising, etc.

Attention Friends:

Be part of the excitement during the Garden's December Luminaria experience! The Garden is looking for a team of volunteers who can add something special to this event. These volunteers will assist the public at the wish tree, help with the cider crew and assist families at the children’s area.

If you are a “people person”, with a positive attitude who always has a smile, you are an ideal candidate. Orientation and training will happen onsite. Please apply by November 20. Only selected candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Start Date: December 1, 2020 (with earlier orientation and training date)

End Date: December 31, 2020 (with possibility of extension)

Shifts are 4:30-9:00 pm, and available 7 days a week

Luminaria is a Family night at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden (formerly Devonian Botanic Garden) with candel-lit pathways, bonfires, sculptures and memory lane.

The University of Alberta is temporarily suspending on-campus classes effective immediately while we assess the recommendations of Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health related to Covid-19.

The University will remain open today to allow consultation with public health experts, government officials and other post-secondaries on appropriate next steps. We will provide and update no later than Sunday, March 15.
