NEW LEARNING SESSION!

This session is brought to you by Autism Edmonton with support from the City of Edmonton.

Many autistic, ADHD, and q***r individuals are told to “just talk about it” when it comes to emotions, overwhelm, identity, and mental health. But emotional processing does not look the same for everyone. 🧠🌈

Join Autism Edmonton for You Don’t Have To Talk About It: Understanding Emotions, Identity & Overwhelm, an affirming virtual learning session exploring the many ways neurodivergent and q***r individuals experience, process, and express emotions.

This session will examine emotional overwhelm, shutdown, masking, identity development, internalized expectations, and alternative ways of communicating and understanding feelings beyond traditional verbal processing. Participants will gain insight into how autistic and ADHD individuals may navigate emotions differently, while also exploring the impact of q***r identity, sensory stress, burnout, and social expectations.

This learning opportunity is designed for autistic and ADHD individuals, caregivers, educators, professionals, mental health practitioners, and allies wanting to better understand neurodivergent emotional experiences in a compassionate and validating way.

NEW LEARNING SESSION!

This learning session is brought to you by Autism Edmonton with support from the Government of Alberta.

What does it mean to move through life without knowing you are Autistic, only to receive a diagnosis later in adulthood? For many late-diagnosed Autistic women and gender-diverse individuals, the journey can bring relief, grief, validation, self-understanding, and a rethinking of past experiences. 🧠✨

Join Autism Edmonton for Social Experience: Autistic Late Diagnosed Women and Gender Diverse People featuring Dr. Angela Feehan. This engaging virtual learning session will explore findings from 33 research studies examining the social experiences of late-diagnosed Autistic women and gender-diverse individuals across the lifespan.

Topics will include navigating social interactions while undiagnosed, masking and coping strategies, recognizing autistic identity, the assessment and diagnosis process, supportive factors for thriving, and the emotional realities that can come with late diagnosis. Attendees will also have opportunities for reflection and discussion around how these experiences may resonate with their own lives and journeys.

Dr. Angela Feehan is a Speech Language Pathologist and Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan. Her work focuses on understanding how neurodivergent individuals can thrive in their everyday lives, with a particular focus on late diagnosis, social experiences, and Autistic women and gender-diverse people. Dr. Feehan also brings lived experience to her work in neurodivergence.

TOMORROW!

Caregiver Resilience: Living Authentically
Thursday, May 28th, 2026
1 pm to 2:30 pm

This session is brought to you by Autism Edmonton and YMCA of Northern Alberta with support from the Sinneave Family Foundation.

It is easy to live according to the expectations of others. It takes intention and courage to live according to your own values.

This session invites you to slow down and examine what truly matters to you. Together, we will explore how to strengthen your sense of self, value yourself as an individual, and make choices that reflect your personal beliefs rather than outside pressure.

In this session, you will explore:
• How to identify your core values
• The difference between external expectations and internal truth
• Practical strategies to build self respect and confidence
• Ways to align daily decisions with what genuinely matters to you

Living authentically does not mean rejecting others. It means understanding yourself clearly enough to make grounded, values based decisions.

Join us to reflect, grow, and take meaningful steps toward living with intention and self trust.

TOMORROW!

This session is brought to you by Autism Edmonton with support from the Sinneave Family Foundation.

Masking is often invisible to others, but for many autistic people it can carry an enormous emotional, mental, and physical cost. 🧠✨

Join Autism Edmonton for The Invisible Labour of Autistic Masking, a virtual learning session exploring the hidden work autistic people often do to navigate social expectations, communication, environments, and everyday interactions.

This session will look at how masking develops, why autistic people may feel pressure to hide or camouflage parts of themselves, and how masking can impact mental health, burnout, identity, relationships, and overall well-being.

Participants will also explore the importance of authenticity, self-understanding, accommodations, and creating more neuroaffirming spaces where autistic people do not have to constantly hide who they are.
