Got books collecting dust? Give them a new chapter. πŸ“šπŸ’š

From September 1st through September 30th you can drop your gently used book off at BGCBigs' Riverdale office (located at 10135 89 Street) and support vital mentoring and after-school programs in your community!

What has mentoring taught you? πŸ’ We asked our mentors to reflect on their experiences, and their answers were just as much about what they've learned by being mentors than about what they've taight their mentees!

What were some of those lessons, you ask? To slow down. To be present. To listen. To show up. And to remember that making a meaningful impact doesn't always require having the perfect plan.

Swipe to hear what mentoring has taught some of our volunteers. πŸ’š And, you can read even more REAL Stories at BGCBigs.ca/realstories

330 km. One epic ride. A whole lot of heart.

This September long weekend, EPCOR corporate volunteer Kent Zutz is taking on an incredible challenge: biking the Icefields Parkway from Banff to Jasper, approximately 330 km! But Kent isn't just riding for the adventure. He reached out to BGCBigs because he wanted to turn this personal challenge into an opportunity to raise funds directly in support of children and youth in our community.

We are so excited to cheer Kent on as he takes on one of Canada's most spectacular and challenging cycling routes, all while helping open doors to potential for young people across Edmonton and area. Do you want to support Kent's ride and BGCBigs?

Every donation helps!πŸ‘‰ Donate to Kent's ride: https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E348530QE&id=54

Good luck, Kent! We'll be cheering you on every kilometre of the way!

September is Big Brothers Big Sisters Month! πŸ’š

This month, we're celebrating the people, connections and everyday moments that make mentoring meaningful.

From showing up and listening to sharing laughs, trying something new and simply spending time together, our volunteers remind us that connection can make a BIG difference.

Throughout September, follow along as we share REAL Stories and reflections from BGCBigs mentors across our community.

There are many ways to be part of something BIG.

Mentor. Donate. Fundraise. Support. Partner.

Our Club members ages 6–12 have been exploring Canada through BGC Canada national program Niska’s Quest: a fun, hands-on journey that builds literacy, numeracy, creativity, and cultural understanding.

A huge thank you to TD Bank of Canada Bank for making this program possible. Your support helps our kids grow as lifelong learners and deepen their connection to the land, cultures, and stories that shape our country. πŸ’šπŸͺΆ

Our Club kids have been making the most of summer with creative activities and new experiences at EPL!

Kinda chic to spend summer with BGCBigs. Just saying.

πŸŒπŸ’™ Today, we recognize World Humanitarian Day.

At BGCBigs, we see every day how when a community comes together, things are just better.

It can look like a mentor helping a young person work through something they’ve been struggling with at school. A volunteer lending a hand to serve a hot meal at one of our Clubs. Or a community partner or funder stepping up to help improve the spaces where children and youth learn, play, and connect.

These everyday acts of support may look different, but together, they help build stronger communities and create more opportunities for young people.

Today is a reminder that making a difference doesn’t always have to be something big, it can start by simply showing up for someone in your community. πŸ’™
