The Government of Alberta has announced a $21M investment in the University of Alberta’s DEFENDS initiative, strengthening Alberta’s position as a national hub for defence, aerospace and dual-use innovation.

The funding will help connect researchers, industry and the Canadian Armed Forces to accelerate made-in-Alberta solutions with both military and civilian applications.

In a significant move to bolster national sovereignty and provincial economic resilience, the Government of Alberta has announced a $21-million investment into the University of Alberta to transform the province into the premier hub for defence innovation in Canada.
