Catholic Social Services

Catholic Social Services For urgent help, call 211 or 911. Federal, provincial, and municipal funding sources account for 86% of our operating budget.

Catholic Social Services serves 20,000+ Albertans each year, offering disability support, family and child services, counselling, shelters, residential care, and newcomer settlement across 13 communities. We help people in need, regardless of religion, race, gender, ethnic origin, colour or creed, through more than 100 community-based ministries. We provide help to:

• abused children and youth at

risk
• persons with alcohol and/or drugs addictions
• individuals with physical and developmental disabilities
• new immigrants and refugees
• Men and women living with HIV/AIDS
• Individuals and families in crisis

We offer service in communities throughout central Alberta, with offices located in Edmonton, Lloydminster, Red Deer, Wainwright, and Wetaskiwin. This funding is enhanced by community support received through the annual Sign of Hope campaign. More than 60,000 people received help from our Agency in 2013. CSS proudly hosted its 2026 Mission Recognition Awards luncheon on May 28, bringing together staff from across northern and central Alberta to celebrate the incredible people behind our mission. The afternoon was filled with gratitude, recognition, and inspiration as we honoured individuals and teams whose dedication continues to make a difference in the lives of those we serve. This year’s Archbishop J.H. MacDonald Distinguished Lifetime Contribution Award was presented to Sister Mary Clare Stack, whose decades of compassionate service and unwavering commitment have left a lasting legacy in our agency and community.
