Valour Place- a comfortable, temporary, fully accessible residence for soldiers, RCMP, veterans and The Valour Place committee, led by Hon. Col.

Dennis Erker, of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, was been struck to raise $10 million to build and furnish the proposed 10,000 square foot facility of Valour Place. The board and committee membership has been drawn from both the civilian and military communities. All share a connection to the Canadian Forces. Some are current members of the CF, some are volunteers with military associations, some hav

e traveled to Afghanistan and some have family members who have served or who are currently serving with the CF. All committee members strongly endorse and support Valour Place as an important addition to the quality of life we enjoy in Edmonton. The vision for Valour Place in Edmonton has come from within this group of dedicated volunteers. It is our intention that the vision will be realized with the construction of a state of the art facility for injured soldiers and veterans and their families who do not reside in Edmonton.

This summer, our student Laxmi got to see firsthand just how much goes into running a charity, and she left with a whole new appreciation for it.

Her favourite project? Reaching out to hundreds of businesses to find donors and sponsors for Walk for Valour - work that goes directly toward supporting our biggest fundraiser of the year. But what stuck with her most was the people: the staff, volunteers, and guests who welcomed her in every single day.

Laxmi's advice for next year's summer student? Don't be shy. Our guests love having someone to chat with, and showing up with kindness goes a long way!

Thank you, Laxmi, for everything you brought to the Valour Place team this summer - we're so grateful for you!!
