The Edmonton Police Service is taking on Edmonton Fire Rescue Services in a friendly soccer showdown, all in support of three great causes.

Along with the action on the field, enjoy fun family activities such as kids’ penalty shots, a barbecue, bouncy castle, police and fire vehicles, mascots and more.

Proceeds will support Wings of Providence, Edmonton Firefighters Burn Treatment Society, and Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

Police seek witnesses in fatal hit-and-run collision: The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public's assistance identifying the occupants of a forklift that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision last week.

At approximately 12:05 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2026 (late Friday night into Saturday morning), an unidentified male was operating a stolen forklift along 140 Avenue near 134 Street while two other males were riding the forklift. One of the riders, a 20-year-old male, fell off and was struck by the forklift, resulting in fatal injuries. The other occupants of the forklift fled the scene on foot.

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is investigating the collision, and officers are asking witnesses or anyone with information or video footage of the collision to contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.

We’re warning the public about an active scam where fraudsters are posing as the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), claiming your accounts have been compromised. Victims are then being pressured to send money through Bitcoin ATMs or cryptocurrency platforms.

If you receive one of these calls, hang up and contact your bank directly using a trusted phone number or website.

Do not send money, cryptocurrency, or provide personal or banking information to unsolicited callers.

The CAFC will never ask you to move money to cryptocurrency.

Police seek public assistance in south Edmonton assault: The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public's assistance with identifying a suspect involved in an assault in the Whyte Avenue area in July.


On July 4, 2026, at approximately 11:46 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the report of an assault on a roadway in the area of 82 Avenue and 108 Street. Reportedly, a 36-year-old male was assaulted by a group of seven male suspects. The 36-year-old male was treated and transported by EMS hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Police have arrested six adult suspects involved in the incident.

Investigators are now seeking to identify the single outstanding suspect, who is described as a young adult male. The suspect has a medium build, short or medium length black hair and has large dark tattoos on his left forearm and left bicep. He was last seen wearing a white zipper jacket, a black muscle shirt, blue jeans and black and white shoes, as pictured below.

"Investigators have made significant progress in this case, however one suspect remains unidentified," says Cst. James Henderson with the EPS’ Investigations Branch. "We are asking anyone who recognizes this individual or has information about his identity to come forward. Even small details could be a big help for our investigators."

Police believe the suspect frequents the University of Alberta and Whyte Avenue areas of Edmonton.

The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance identifying a driver involved in a property damage collision that took place in August 2026.

On Aug. 3, 2026, at approximately 7 p.m. a White Chevrolet Equinox SUV struck the front left fender of a Toyota Rav4 parked in the lot in front of the north entrance to the Kingsway Walmart. The driver left the scene without leaving any contact information.

The adult female driver was noted exiting the store prior to the collision and was seen pushing a stroller, pulling a shopping cart and was wearing white pants and a shoulder less green sweater.

As students head back to school, EPS is working with the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Transit Service and community partners through the “Here to Help” campaign to support riders and promote safety on transit.

EPS Transit Community Safety Teams will be out in transit spaces alongside partner teams to help riders feel safe, confident and connected to available resources.
