Express Entry scoring changes on November 3, 2026.

IRCC updated its Express Entry pages on October 16. From November 3, a new Labour Market Integration factor scores either your Canadian work experience or a job offer in a high-wage occupation, whichever gives more points. Profiles already in the pool will be recalculated, which IRCC says could take up to 2 weeks.

A review is with Shirani Jenita Daniel, RCIC-IRB.

Have a job offer and an Express Entry profile? Update your profile before November 3, 2026.

From November 3, IRCC sets the high-wage level by occupation, not by your personal salary. And you get points for Canadian work experience or a job offer, not both.

Citizenship is counted in days, not in years, and that distinction causes more confusion than any other part of the application.

The physical presence requirement is a specific number of days inside a defined window before the date you apply. Days spent outside Canada do not count, and some time held in another status counts only partially.

The practical consequence is that a travel history nobody wrote down becomes a problem later. Keeping a record of entries and exits as you go is a great deal less work than reconstructing five years of it afterwards.

If you are approaching the threshold, counting carefully is the work.

Canadian experience or a job offer: in Express Entry's new Labour Market Integration factor, whichever scores higher counts, not both.

From November 3, 2026, that factor compares points for Canadian work experience (up to 140 with a spouse or partner, 150 without) with points for a valid job offer in a high-wage occupation (100, 70 or 50). You receive the higher of the two within that factor.

From November 3, 2026, an Express Entry job offer does not need an LMIA to count for Express Entry program eligibility or CRS points. An officer still checks that the offer is genuine. This is an Express Entry change; IRCC's page does not describe it as a change to work permit LMIA rules.

Whether a job counts as high-wage for Express Entry is not about your salary.

From November 3, 2026, IRCC sets each occupation's level by its NOC code: the national median wage for that occupation is compared with the average median wage of the overall Canadian workforce. The levels are at least 1.3, 1.5 or 2 times. IRCC's list is based on 2023 to 2025 data.

High-wage job? For Express Entry from November 3, 2026, the level is set by your occupation's NOC code, not your salary: at least 1.3, 1.5 or 2 times the average median wage.
