FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Eastend Economic Development Committee Launches Fundraising Campaign for New Digital X-Ray Equipment and Lab Services at Wolf Willow Health Centre

Eastend, Saskatchewan – June 10, 2026

The Eastend Economic Development Committee (EEDC) has launched a fundraising campaign to purchase a new digital X-ray system and upgrade laboratory services at the Wolf Willow Health Centre. The project has received approval from the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors and Rural and Remote Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

The new digital X-ray system will provide several key benefits, including:

• Clearer, higher-quality images for more accurate diagnoses
• Faster access to results, leading to quicker treatment decisions
• Reduced patient travel and unnecessary patient transfers to larger centres. This will save time, resources, and significantly reduce the strain on our ambulance services.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $772,000.

To support the campaign, the EEDC will host a fundraising gala on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Eastend Memorial Hall.

Community members, businesses, and organizations are invited to support the initiative through donations or sponsorships. Donations will be securely held in trust by the Town of Eastend and are fully tax deductible

Current sponsors of this initiative include the Town of Eastend, RM of White Valley No. 49, RM of Arlington No. 79, RM of Reno No.51 and North American Helium.

For information on donating, purchasing event tickets, or becoming a sponsor, please visit townofeastend.com/digital-xray-initiative or contact Val Bidaux (306) 295-7406 / Email: [email protected]

Despite the rainy weather, the Eastend School Kindergarten Class brought plenty of smiles and enthusiasm to Town Square as they helped plant flowers in the community planters.

As part of a Flower Planting Best Practices workshop, students worked alongside a greenhouse operator, Town staff, and community volunteers to learn proper flower planting techniques and planter care. Rain jackets and rubber boots didn't slow them down as they dug, planted, and helped add a splash of colour to one of Eastend’s favourite gathering places.

The activity provided a fun, hands-on opportunity for students to learn about teamwork, volunteerism, and taking pride in their community.

Eastend Communities in Bloom would like to thank the Kindergarten Class for their hard work and positive attitude on a wet spring day. After all their planting efforts, the students were treated to mini monster cookies, frozen yogurt tubes, and iced tea, a well-deserved reward for a job well done!

This project was made possible through the support of Sask Lotteries.

We want to honour a special person who helped put Eastend on the map as a dinosaur destination, while simultaneously adding some life to our downtown and commemorating 50 years of Dino Days! 🦖
