Buying something off Marketplace or Kijiji?

Meeting a stranger in a random parking lot at night... questionable.

Meeting at a police station Safe Exchange Zone... much better life choice.

The West Grey Police Service Safe Exchange parking spots are located at the front, north corner of the building, closest to the paramedic station, and are under video surveillance the entire time.

🐾 Community Supporting Community 🐾

Members of the West Grey Police Service were pleased to attend the Lions Club fundraiser in Durham in support of service dogs.

Service dogs play a vital role in enhancing independence, safety, and quality of life for many individuals.

It was great to see our community come together to support such an important cause and help make a difference for those who rely on these incredible animals.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who attended and contributed to the event's success.

Your support helps change lives—one paw at a time. 🐕❤️

Parents: quick online safety chat.

Sharing personal information, photos, school names, or locations in gaming chats and apps can create real-world safety risks for youth.

Not everyone online is who they claim to be.

A quick conversation about internet safety today can go a long way tomorrow.

🎉 Backyard party season is here.

A reminder that causing excessive noise late at night can result in charges under municipal noise bylaws.

Yes, your playlist is probably great.
No, your neighbours may not want to hear it at 1:37 AM.

Be respectful, know your local bylaws, and keep the good vibes neighbour-friendly.

Hosting this weekend?

Reminder that under Ontario’s Liquor Licence and Control Act, knowingly supplying alcohol to minors can lead to significant fines and liability issues.

“Cool house” points disappear pretty fast when police reports arrive.

Host responsibly.
Plan safe rides.
Look out for each other.

Lock your vehicles.

Yes, even in small towns.
Yes, even “just for a minute.”
Yes, even if there’s “nothing valuable inside.”

Theft from vehicles remains one of the most common opportunistic crimes police investigate.

Criminals love convenience.
Don’t provide curbside pickup.

🚨Rural Reminder🚨

That abandoned couch on the sideroad?
That old mattress in the ditch?
That “someone else will deal with it” energy?

Illegal dumping can lead to hefty fines under municipal bylaws and Ontario environmental legislation.

We promise, the raccoons don’t want your garbage either. 🦝

Dispose of waste properly and help keep West Grey looking beautiful.

Reminder from WGPS:
Under Ontario’s Fire Protection and Prevention Act, property owners can be held responsible for damages and costs related to unsafe outdoor burning.

That “small backyard burn pile” can become very dangerous, very quickly.

✔️ Check local burn by-laws and fire bans
✔️ Never leave fires unattended
✔️ Keep water nearby
✔️ Fully extinguish before leaving

Because “it looked fine when we went inside” is not a fire safety plan.

School’s almost out, which means backpacks are about to become beach bags, overnight bags and maybe even a forgotten-banana-peel-science-experiment.

Parents/guardians now’s a good time to check in with your kids about summer safety:
☀️ Curfews
🚲 Helmet use
📱 Social media safety
🚫 Drugs/alcohol
🚗 Safe rides home

The best summer memories usually start with good decisions and important conversations.
