Recent growth in the sale of e‑dirt bikes has led to more of these electric vehicles operating on local streets, raising public safety concerns. It is important for riders and parents to understand that e‑dirt bikes are not the same as street‑legal e‑bikes and are subject to different rules under the BC Motor Vehicle Act. Have a read.

We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred today in Tumbler Ridge. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, the students and staff affected, and the entire community as they face an incredibly difficult moment.

We commend our RCMP members and all first responders for their courage in unimaginable circumstances. Additional resources have been deployed to support the community and ensure that everyone affected has access to the help they need.

We stand with Tumbler Ridge and will continue to support the community in the days ahead.

Our annual Cram the Cruiser and Capsize the Canoe were a great success thanks to the community here in North Cowichan/Duncan.

On Thursday December 4th, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Indigenous Policing Service, M’Akola Housing, Cowichan Valley Basket Society and Cowichan Community Policing & Engagement Society worked alongside Superstore in Duncan for Capsize the Canoe Christmas Food Drive. 2150 pounds of food was collected along with $998.25 and $300 in gift cards. The value of the food donated exceeded $7600. We want to say thank you to all who donated and came out for support, during this season it shows how generous and giving this community is. Shoutout to Real Canadian Superstore for hosting.

On Saturday December 6th, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP were honoured to organize our annual Cram the Cruiser at Canadian Tire. Donations of toys from people in the community, which filled the entire police cruiser, and over $2,100.00 in cash donations and gift cards. The Cowichan Valley Basket Society was grateful and shocked at the generosity from the community. The Basket Society has over 600 families registered this year for Christmas hampers who will benefit from these donations. We loved seeing all the smiling faces as members and RCMP Victim Services staff graciously accepted heartfelt donations from the people of North Cowichan/Duncan. A huge shout out again this year to Canadian Tire for hosting the event. Another shout out to Brianne and staff at Save-On-Foods, Thrifty Foods and Tim Hortons on Drinkwater Rd for their donations.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Introducing Officer Avyrn! Officer Avyrn is the newest recruit with the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP. She has some big paws to fill following Officer Triggs but she is already showing Constable Casey that anything boys can do, girls can do better! Welcome Officer Avyrn!

Voici l’agente Avyrn! Bienvenue, agente Avyrn!
