Municipality of North Cowichan North Cowichan is a community on south Vancouver Island, and about 32,000 call North Cowichan home.

Social media code of conduct: https://www.northcowichan.ca/privacy-statement North Cowichan is a diverse Municipality which includes a number of distinct communities (South End, Crofton, Chemainus, and Maple Bay). Located between Victoria and Nanaimo in the heart of the Cowichan Valley, the Municipality offers a serene, easy-going lifestyle among forest lands, mountains, lakes, rivers, and ocean inlets. North Cowichan offers an enticing variety of recreational pursuits. While the forest industry has been a backbone of the local economy, the 5,000 hectare municipal forest reserve also provides great hiking, mountain biking, hang gliding, and nature viewing opportunities. Scuba diving, sailing and fishing are also possible in the waters of Genoa Bay, Maple Bay, Sansum Narrows, and Stuart Channel. Lush, fertile farm and forest lands weave into the fabric of North Cowichan's rich, rural atmosphere. The famous Chemainus Murals have inspired many communities in Canada to explore their roots. Bursting with charm and charisma, Chemainus draws over 500,000 visitors annually from all over the world.
