Duck Lake Fire was proud to host Twin Rivers Fire School last week Thursday. Twin Rivers Fire School is a collaboration of the neighboring communities to train new members. We provided training on the water supply system, hoselines and fire streams. Practical training included operating hydrants. Thankyou to the Regional Interpretive Centre for the use of their boardroom

As of 5 p.m. on Friday, June 13, the provincial fire ban has been revised to allow the use of ATVs and UTVs within the boundaries of the fire ban - the area north of the provincial forest boundary, up to the Churchill River. If riding ATVs and UTVs in regions of the province affected by wildfire, please stay away from active fire lines.

Open flames, controlled burns and fireworks are still prohibited in the designated boundary.

When using your ATV or UTV remember to stick to established roads and trails, ride with extra caution, stop often to inspect your vehicle for grass and other debris, and always carry fire suppression equipment with you.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT STATEMENT - 10:38PM

The following statement was released by BOCN Emergency Management Officer, Loressa Mike:

"I want to thank all the first responders - especially from the Town and RM of Rosthern, and the Town and RM of Duck Lake, and to our volunteer fire fighters - who showed up to ensure no injuries were sustained in a house fire that was reported at approximately 9:10pm this evening.

I can confirm that thankfully no one was injured in the fire but that the house was completely destroyed.

Community members are advised to avoid the immediate vicinity of the fire as a large number of Emergency Personnel and vehicles are still on-site.

We will update the community if necessary but as of right now, the fire is extinguished, the situation is contained, and there is no danger to the community."
