Council Statement, June 8, 2026.

Chief and Council of Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation are proud to share a resolution affirming our unwavering support for Two-Spirit people within our community.

This resolution was passed unanimously.

While Councillor Nicole was unable to be present as she is supporting an important awareness walk, we acknowledge that she wholeheartedly supports this declaration alongside her fellow Council members.

This statement reflects who we are as a Nation, guided by our teachings, respect, and the strength as Willow Cree.

Be it finally resolved that this resolution stands as a public affirmation that Two-Spirit people belong, are loved, are protected, and will continue to have a place of honour within the Beardy’s & Okemasis’ Cree Nation No. 96 & No. 97.

We stand in unity and respect for one another.

Thank you to each and every one of you who attended the Walk for Preeclampsia Awareness in Saskatoon on Sunday.

The energy that radiated throughout the walk was truly felt, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who played a role in making this day possible.

Thank you to our elder, drummers, smudge men, bus driver, organizers, and especially the Sutherland‑Weenie family for allowing us to gather on the day before what would have been Jaali’s 25th birthday.

This is just the beginning 🐦

We would like to recognize Councillor Nicole Gamble, who is embarking on a journey to Regina alongside Muskoday First Nation.

Councillor Gamble is walking to help raise awareness and show support for all families in our Nation who have been affected by addiction.

This marks the fourth year that Muskoday has sponsored this walk.

Councillor Gamble has invited anyone who has been affected by addiction and is in need of prayers to reach out to her as she takes this journey.

Please keep her, and all those impacted by addiction, in your thoughts and prayers. 🙏🏽
