Dryden Food Bank to Open New Community Thrift Store
The Dryden Food Bank Board of Directors are pleased to announce that a new Community Thrift Store will open at 34A Whyte Avenue. The store will broaden the services that advance the Dryden Food Bank’s mission.
How the Store Will Help
The Community Thrift Store will support the Dryden Food Bank’s social-service work by:
• distributing donated and surplus goods, including essentials, to people affected by food insecurity;
• offering affordable merchandise to the wider community;
• generating revenue for the food bank; and
• strengthening the Dryden Food Bank’s charitable programs and services.
Store Leadership
Shannon Hatfield has been hired to manage the Community Thrift Store. Through her work with the Salvation Army Thrift Store, she brings many years of experience delivering this type of community service. We are pleased to welcome Shannon and her staff.
Building on Community Service
“For many years, the Salvation Army Thrift Store provided a valuable service to our community. By selling donated goods, the new Community Thrift Store will generate revenue for the Dryden Food Bank’s broader mission, offer affordable merchandise, and provide goods to clients through DFB programs,” says Al Huckabay, manager of the Dryden Food Bank. “We believe the store will strengthen our ability to deliver charitable services throughout the community.”
Opening Date
The Community Thrift Store will open on Monday, November 2, 2026.
