The Greek alphabet was the first fully alphabetic system to represent consonants and vowels systematically.

Before this, readers often had to guess vowel sounds from context. By giving vowels their own symbols, the Greeks made written language clearer and easier to read. It also influenced many later alphabets, including Latin and Cyrillic!
