Today, we remember the firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to
their communities.

In Drumheller, we remember Harry Lefebre, who lost his life while battling a fire
in 1937, and Adolf Guterson, who died from injuries sustained while fighting
the Napier Theatre fire in 1951. Their names are part of the history of the
Drumheller Fire Department and a lasting reminder of the courage and sacrifice
of those who have answered the call to protect our community.

Today, we honour Lefebre and Guterson, and all firefighters across Canada who have lost
their lives in the line of duty.

The Town of Drumheller will lower flags to half-mast in honour of The Honourable Dr. Allan A. Warrack, whose memorial service will be held on September 12, 2026.

Dr. Warrack served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Three Hills from 1971 to 1979, representing a constituency that included Drumheller. During his time in government, he served in Premier Peter Lougheed’s cabinet as Minister of Lands and Forests and later as Minister of Utilities and Telephones.

Beyond his political career, Dr. Warrack made significant contributions to Alberta through his work as an educator, academic and public servant, including serving as Vice-President (Administration) at the University of Alberta.

The Town of Drumheller recognizes Dr. Warrack’s years of service to Alberta and to the communities he represented, and extends our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

As the season winds down, the Town will begin closing and winterizing outdoor amenities starting September 14.

The fountain and spray park will close on September 14, and crews will begin winterizing the outdoor washrooms.

The Plaza washroom will remain open after September 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE | September 14, 2026 | 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

The Town of Drumheller will conduct a CCTV inspection of the stormwater system at the intersection of Highway 9 (2 Street W) and 3 Avenue W on Monday, September 14 between 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The inspection will help determine the cause of a sinkhole in the area and assess whether there is an issue with the underground stormwater infrastructure.

All Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are asked to follow all traffic control signs and detour routes during the closure.

Access restrictions will remain in place only while the inspection is underway. Crews will work to complete the assessment as efficiently as possible.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we inspect and maintain important municipal infrastructure.

🚨COMMUNITY CLEAN UP REMINDER🚨

Community Clean Up is an annual program that provides Drumheller residents with an opportunity to dispose of household items that are not accepted through regular curbside waste collection.

The program helps residents dispose of oversized or excess items without making a trip to the landfill. Community Clean Up is provided free of charge to all Drumheller residents.

Please remember that not every item is accepted through the Community Clean Up Program. To avoid disappointment or having items left behind, please review the program requirements and confirm your items are eligible before placing them out for collection.

Collection takes place on a neighbourhood-by-neighbourhood schedule. Residents are asked to place eligible items at their regular curbside collection location before their scheduled Community Clean Up date. Items must be sorted according to the program guidelines to ensure they can be collected safely and efficiently.

- This program does not include disposal of demolition material. Commercial/Industrial waste is not included in this program.
- No single site is to exceed the volume of a 1/2 ton truck.
- Importing waste from outside Drumheller corporate limits is strictly prohibited .
- Please note that compost, such as lawn clippings, leaves, wood chips and small trees, is always free to dispose of at the Drumheller Landfill. This does not include calliper tree stumps and trunks or diseased trees, such as black knot and Dutch Elm.

Didn’t get a colouring page at the Exhibit? No problem. You can download and print the colouring page using the link below.

Once your child is finished, please bring the completed drawing to the Badlands Community Facility, Drumheller Aquaplex or Drumheller Townhall by September 30, 2026.
