With the upcoming licence and ID changes you may find yourself needing to order your legal presence documents. If you were born in Alberta come see us in office with valid photo ID to order birth or marriage documents! Born or married in a different province follow the below link to see different provincial requirements to order documents.

Find Vital Statistics offices in different provinces, territories and countries so you can get non-Alberta documents.

Unsure what to bring in with the upcoming changes to driver’s licenses and ID cards? For the citizenship marker you will need an original, valid document such as a Canadian birth certificate, passport, citizenship certificate etc. If the name on this is different from your current DL or ID extra documents may be needed. Not sure if your documentation qualifies? Give us a call!

Is your drivers licence or ID card expiring June 27th, 28th, 29th, or 30th? Due to the upcoming changes to these cards Drivers licence and ID services will be unavailable these dates so you will have to plan accordingly!

Changes to Alberta driver’s licences and identification cards will provide stronger protection against identity fraud and counterfeiting, as well as a more convenient way to access services.

The new design will display a Canadian citizenship marker when applicable, as well as your personal health number for eligible Albertans.

Applications and renewals cannot be done online, and original legal entitlement documents and your paper health card or mobile health care card must be brought with you to a registry.

Examples of documents include:
• Canadian Birth Certificate
• Canadian Passport
• Permanent Resident Card
• Secure Certificate of Indian Status
• Canadian Citizenship Certificate
• NEXUS Cards and RAST/EXPRES Cards indicating Canadian citizenship

You do not need to be a Canadian citizen to obtain a driver’s licence or ID card.
