๐Ÿšฉ Flags to be Half-Masted for Firefighters' National Memorial Day

The flags at the Drayton Valley Civic Centre will be flown at half-mast from sunrise until sundown today โ€” September 13 โ€” in recognition of Firefighters' National Memorial Day.

This day provides an opportunity to remember and honour firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty, and to recognize the courage, dedication, and service of firefighters who protect our communities.

We invite members of the community to join us in pausing to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

๐ŸŠ Ricochet Oil Corp Aquatic Centre Maintenance Update
(September 11, 2026)

A big thank you to Drayton Valley/Brazeau County Fire Services and Water Treatment Plant for working with us to help speed up the process of filling our pools.

Our main pool is currently being filled and โ€” with the additional support of the Fire Department using the hydrant โ€” weโ€™ve been able to significantly increase the filling rate. Our leisure pool is now full and circulating, with chlorination coming up next.

Thereโ€™s also been a lot of progress throughout the facility. Contractors have been busy completing repairs, painting, and other improvements, while our maintenance team has been working hard to keep everything moving forward.

A big thank you as well to our lifeguards and aquatics team. Theyโ€™ve been hard at work cleaning, scrubbing, and acid washing the pool basins and helping with the many jobs that go into getting the facility ready to reopen.

It has been a great team effort across multiple Town departments. Everyone is doing their part, things are looking great, and we remain right on track for reopening! Stay tuned for another update next week.

๐Ÿšจ Landfill Closed for Maintenance ๐Ÿšจ
The Drayton Valley Landfill will be closed starting today โ€” Thursday, Aug. 27 โ€” with an anticipated reopening date of Monday, Aug. 31 due to required road maintenance on the site.

The wet weather followed by a period of hot/dry conditions has caused severe rutting on the road that has made it impassible by vehicle; weโ€™ve had to tow a few folks out. Even the garbage trucks canโ€™t get through.

This will affect today's (Thursday, Aug. 27) curbside collection for Zone 3 as shown in red on the map: https://www.draytonvalley.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/2024-Waste-Collection-Schedule_Page_2-scaled.jpg

Anyone who was missed today, please leave your bins out and our crews will be back on Friday, Aug. 28 to complete the route.

โœ… The Recycling Depot remains open and continues to accept blue bags, cardboard, glass, plastic containers, tin cans, and cartons. The full list of accepted materials can be found at: https://www.draytonvalley.ca/recycling-depot/

We anticipate reopening the landfill on Monday, Aug. 31 once maintenance has been completed and it is safe for vehicles to entire the site. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
