Buffalo River Dene Nation School is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and supportive Educational Assistant to provide individualized support to a high school student.
🤝 WHAT YOU’LL DO
The successful candidate will work closely with the classroom teacher and school team to support the student’s:
Learning • Communication • Participation • Day-to-day school routines
The Educational Assistant will help create a positive, structured, and supportive environment that encourages the student’s learning, independence, and participation in school activities.
🌿 QUALIFICATIONS & ASSETS
Experience & Knowledge
-Experience working with students with Autism or diverse learning needs is an asset.
-Training, education, or experience related to Autism, inclusive education, behavioral support, or student support is an asset.
-Willingness to learn about Autism and effective strategies for supporting the student.
-Ability to understand and respond appropriately to individual student needs.
Approach & Communication
-Patient, respectful, and supportive approach when working with students.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to build a positive and respectful working relationship with the student.
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Teamwork & Support
-Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, school staff, and other members of the student support team.
-Ability to follow individualized strategies and direction provided by the classroom teacher and school team.
-Strong teamwork and communication skills.
-Dependable, professional, and adaptable.
🚗 An important asset:
A Valid Driver’s License.
👥 GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
-Experience working with children or youth is an asset.
-Previous Educational Assistant experience is an asset.
-Commitment to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
