Grade One Little Scientists are developing their curiosity about the world around them through hands-on exploration, playful learning, and the use of simple scientific tools. As they investigate matter and measurement, students have opportunities to observe, touch, and measure different materials and objects.

Through play-based learning and guided discovery, students ask questions, make predictions, test their ideas, and share their observations. Using tools such as magnifying glasses, balance scales, beakers, and measuring tapes, they begin to explore the properties of materials and discover how objects can be described, compared, and measured.

These meaningful, hands-on experiences nurture curiosity, encourage problem-solving, and build early scientific thinking.

Little scientists learn best when they can explore, experiment, play, and discover!

As a YCW, Ms. Madi supports the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of our EIPK students. She works closely with our team and families to ensure our little learners thrive both in the classroom and at home!

The Scholastic Book Fair is in full swing from October 19โ€“23!

Whether youโ€™re stopping by during Parent-Teacher Interviews tonight or taking a quick break from the School Dance tomorrow night, come wander through the fair! Weโ€™ve got fantastic graphic novels, activity kits, and gift ideas for readers of all ages.
Why visit? Every dollar spent earns rewards for our school! If we hit our goal, 50% of proceeds go directly back to our school to buy new books for our library and classrooms.

Nature Navigators in Action!

Before those winds blew all the leaves off the trees, our Grade 2 classes -the Nature Navigators - headed down to the Devon River Valley for an incredible, full day of outdoor learning!

Throughout the day, students immersed themselves in nature by practising spatial awareness while navigating trails, building teamwork through cooperative games, and pausing for peaceful moments of mindfulness.

Creative energy was at an all-time high! Students crafted unique stick people using twigs and colourful yarn and constructed intricate micro-habitats complete with Lego figurines, small creatures, and custom playdough animals.

To cap off a wonderful day, everyone gathered for a closing circle to reflect on their adventures, followed by a delicious fruit kabob snack kindly provided by our Mental Health Team!

Hands-On Learning in Action!

These Grade 3 and 4 students teamed up for a special hands-on project: making custom playdough for all three of our Kindergarten classrooms!

They did an amazing job taking charge of the recipe - measuring ingredients, stirring, cooking, and adding vibrant colours. Not only was it a fun real-world math and science lesson for our older students, but our Kinders are going to love using their fresh playdough for sensory play and fine motor fun!

Our Grade 1 readers are exploring new sounds and unlocking the magic of reading every day!
To help build their confidence, Mrs Gerhardtโ€™s classroom has a special basket of "reading buddies"- stuffed animals that are always ready for storytime. Reading aloud to a fuzzy friend gives our students a comfortable, judgment-free space to practice sounding out words and celebrate their progress.
There's nothing sweeter than hearing the classroom filled with confident little voices reading to their favourite plush pals!

In our Early Intervention Pre-Kindergarten (EIPK) classroom, learning means getting active! This year, weโ€™re focusing on gross motor developmentโ€”a division-wide goal thatโ€™s keeping our littlest learners moving in all kinds of fun and challenging ways.
Check out our kiddos putting their strength to the test outside by pushing these heavy tires! ๐ŸšœActivities like this help build core strength, balance, coordination, and teamworkโ€”all while sparking big curiosity through play.

Big thanks to our amazing Grade 4 buddies for lending a helping hand to our Grade 1s!

Navigating tech for the first time can be tricky, but our Grade 4 mentors stepped right up to guide their younger buddies through logging into their Chromebooks and exploring Google Classroom.

Seeing our older students step into leadership rolesโ€”and our Grade 1s gain confidence with technologyโ€”is what buddy learning is all about! โค๏ธ

And just like that, the school year is officially a wrap!

From the first day of school to this very last bell, we are incredibly proud of all the learning, growth, and amazing memories our students made this year.
