DFD was toned out at 9:40 for an Electrical Hazard, farm equipment struck a powerline.
4 members responded with R481 and E482. Upon arrival members found a power pole was struck and the the down Powerline was in contact with the farm equipment. Members secured the scene and reassured the operator to stay in the cab of the equipment.
SaskPower arrived on scene to de energize the down Powerline. Once the Powerline was de energized and the operator could get out of the equipment safely DFD cleared scene. Thanks to all members, EMS and SaskPower for responding.

With today’s incident, Davidson Fire Department would like to remind everyone of the importance of powerline safety.
If your vehicle or equipment comes into contact with a powerline, stay in the cab. In most cases, the cab is the safest place to be. Immediately call 911 for assistance and ensure that everyone on the ground stays well clear of the area. Never allow anyone to approach or touch the equipment.
Only exit the vehicle if there is an immediate life threatening emergency, such as a fire. If you must evacuate, open the door carefully, cross your arms, jump clear of the equipment without touching it and the ground at the same time, and land with both feet together. Try to maintain your balance and avoid falling backward.
Once on the ground, keep your feet together and bunny hop or shuffle away from the equipment until you are at least 10 metres (33 feet) away. This helps reduce the risk of injury from electrical current travelling through the ground.
Powerlines can remain energized even when they appear damaged or inactive. Always assume every line is live and dangerous. Never attempt to move downed powerlines yourself and keep people, vehicles, and equipment well away until utility crews have confirmed the area is safe.
A few moments of caution can prevent serious injury or save a life. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with these important safety procedures and share them with your family, friends, and coworkers to ensure everyone comes home safe at night.

This morning our firehall was filled with energy, excitement, laughter, and plenty of smiles! We had the pleasure of hosting the Davidson Playschool students, and as always, they brought so much joy and positivity to our day.
The students learned about firefighter personal protective equipment, explored the fire trucks, and got to see firsthand some of the tools and equipment we use to help keep our community safe. We also enjoyed story time, snack time…and we all know firefighters never say no to snacks! 🍪🚒
With the nice, sunny weather today, we headed outside for one of the highlights of the morning… water spraying fun! Watching the kids laugh and enjoy themselves made for a truly memorable visit for all of us.
Building connections with our youngest community members is something we always value. Opportunities like this help create comfort, trust, and awareness around fire safety while making lasting memories along the way.
A huge thank you to Miss Aimee and Miss Brittany for bringing the students out for another great morning with us. We always look forward to your visits and can’t wait to see everyone again! ❤️

The Last Mile

Our First Responder friends in Melville, Saskatchewan recently took the PARTY Program one step further by creating this powerful video. It is raw, emotional, and incredibly real.
This life like production shows how one split second decision can change lives forever. Not only for the victim, but for families, friends, first responders, and entire communities.
The video is 17 minutes long… 17 minutes that could literally save a life and change the way someone thinks before making a risky decision. Please take the time to watch it. Share it with your children, your family, your friends, and anyone who may benefit from its message.
Public education plays a critical role in preventing tragedy, and initiatives like this are helping make a difference by starting important conversations and creating awareness.
A huge kudos to everyone involved in bringing this video to life and courageously capturing the devastating effects that poor decisions can have. Your efforts will undoubtedly make an impact and help save lives.

Today, members of the Davidson Fire Department were proud to participate in the annual PARTY Program at the Davidson School. The PARTY Program, Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth is designed to educate young people on the very real consequences that can result from poor decisions and risky behaviours. Grade 10 students from Davidson, Kenaston, and Loreburn were all in attendance for this important and impactful day.
As part of the program, DFD members, alongside EMS and RCMP, staged a realistic mock single vehicle motor vehicle collision involving three student actors. The scenario focused on distracted driving and demonstrated how quickly one decision can change lives forever. The scene involved one patient with minor injuries, one with serious injuries, and one fatality.
Emergency responders worked together to make the scenario as realistic as possible. Students witnessed patients being extricated using the Jaws of Life, receiving emergency medical care from EMS, and the collision being investigated by RCMP officers. While the scene was difficult to watch at times, it carried an important message that we hope will stay with every student long after today.
The goal of this exercise was not only to demonstrate the realities first responders face, but to show how our choices and actions can have lasting impacts on ourselves, our families, our friends, and our communities. If this program encourages even one young person to make a safer decision behind the wheel or in life, then it has made a difference.
A sincere thank you to Davidson School for organizing this invaluable program, to all DFD members, EMS personnel, RCMP officers, staff, and student participants for their time and dedication in making this day meaningful and educational. We are grateful for the opportunity to work together to help promote safety, awareness, and responsible decision making among our youth.

Over the past few years, DFD has seen a steady increase in response calls. Combined with the SPSA Minimum Standards, it’s become more important than ever for our Department to continue steady growth by improving our training, expanding our capabilities, and upgrading the equipment we so heavily rely on to keep our community safe.

With that, we are incredibly proud to announce the approval and purchase of a brand new Rescue Truck! This has been a long-term project, well over a year in the making, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and teamwork of many people.

First, a huge thank you to all DFD members who worked tirelessly researching, planning, and designing this truck. Your commitment to ensuring we have the right tools for the job is truly appreciated. We also extend a thank you to the Fire Board for approving this very important project. Our Rescue Truck is the first out truck that responds to every single emergency call. This truck is a critical component of our response team that provides an essential service to our community and surrounding area.

We have officially placed an order for a 2026 Ford F550 Super Crew Rescue Truck from Otex Manufacturing in Delisle, SK, with delivery expected later in 2026 or early 2027.

In addition, we will be keeping our current 2006 Ford F550 Rescue Truck and converting it into a dedicated Wildland Fire Unit. A new Wildland Skid has been purchased from Otex Manufacturing to support this conversion. Together, these two projects will significantly enhance and strengthen our response capabilities across all types of emergencies.

None of this would be possible without the support of our community. The purchase of the new Rescue Truck was funded through fundraising and years of generous donations from residents, and community groups, with significant contributions from several local businesses including Panther Industries Inc, Western Sales, Cargill, and Young's Equipment Inc. Davidson as well as funds earned from our Northern Wildfire deployments this past summer. And contributions from our Fire Board Municipalities. We are deeply grateful for every contribution, big or small.

DFD members are excited and looking forward to seeing these projects come together. Thank you to everyone who continues to stand behind us as we work to better serve and protect our community and surrounding areas.
