The Little Métis Literacy sessions scheduled for today September 8th in Dauphin and Thursday September 10th in Ste. Rose have been cancelled.

Join ELCC for Little Métis Literacy, a program that fosters early childhood learning through culturally rich, Red River Métis-inspired storytelling and language activities. Designed for children ages 0–6 and their caregivers, it nurtures a love of reading while celebrating Red River Métis identity and traditions. Through songs, stories, and play, families connect with Red River Métis culture and build strong foundations for lifelong learning.

This program will have one session per week, for four weeks.

Métis Community Centre, 101-11th Ave SW, Dauphin, MB September 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd, 2026 from 10:00AM - 11:30AM

Today, we recognize and celebrate the hard work, dedication, and contributions of workers in our community and across Canada.

Labour Day is an opportunity to appreciate the people who help build, strengthen, and support our communities every day. We thank all workers for their commitment, skills, and the important role they play in our shared success.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of joining eight talented young artists from the Michif Children’s Place School-Age Program for a Red River Métis-inspired dot art painting workshop!

The children did an amazing job, bringing so much creativity, focus and personality to every piece. We can’t share all the details just yet, but you may spot their beautiful artwork somewhere special this October!

Thank you to Michif Children’s Place and each of our young artists for such a wonderful afternoon!

The Northwest Region hosted the 2026 NWMC Summer Student Career Expo along with the Métis Employment & Training Department.

This day was all about exposing our summer students to different training, post-secondary, and career options.

The day was a success with 42 of our summer students attending presentations by local businesses, training institutions, and career support services that are available to them.

We wish to thank all of the presenters, booths, Northwest Region staff, and everyone who supported this event to uphold our youth! We would also like to extend a thank you to Vice-President Chartrand for her words of encouragement and her facilitation of a journal exercise for our summer students along with the grand prize draw for those who completed their journals. Congratulations to the winners on your new laptops and/or printers!
