Until you have contacted a licensed rehabilitator and been advised, please dont. Any time you find an baby animal the first thing we ask is to provide supplemental heat preferably a non shut off heating pad set to low half under babies so they can move off if they become too hot. In a pinch you can use hothands, warmed bottled water, microwaved rice sock, warm water in a ziploc bag, your own body warmth. Some babies may be completely furred but that doesnt necessary mean they can thermoregulate which means maintain body temperatures controlled self regulation independent of external temperatures. A blanket does not keep them warm as it would us....
So firstly warm the baby up asap.
When you come in contact with wildlife you have to understand its in their nature to be fearful of us. Our appearance and voice is not settling to them. Its very important to securely put baby in an environment that is quiet, dark, free of people and pets to help reduce fear and stress. Alot of people jump to the assumption if you find a baby animal it must be starving so they try to instantly feed it, do not! Good intentions have killed many. There are species specific diets and nutritional needs and very few supplemental formulas that can closely replicate mothers milk. Never give cows milk, human baby formula, breast milk!
Now that you have found a baby that may need human intervention and have contacted a wildlife rehabber, know this, you have done your part.
The rehabilitation part is for the rehabbers who have been trained, educated, experienced for these animals.
