🌟 From all of us here at CFKR, we're delighted to launch our updated 2026 grant application process, with over $155,000 available for granting to local non-profits. 🌟

This includes our community funds in Elkford, Sparwood, and Fernie, as well as our endowment funds for Cranbrook and area, including the South Country.

Key Updates:

1. CFKR welcomes applications from eligible non-profit organizations from January 2nd to February 3rd, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. MST.

2. Interested non-profits are invited to visit www.cfkrockies.ca/grants/ to access CFKR’s new online grant application forms, specific to Cranbrook, Elkford, Sparwood, and Fernie. Organizations that plan to apply to multiple communities must complete a separate application for each community.

3. The maximum grant request varies by community, based on endowment size, with $2,000 as the maximum in Elkford, Sparwood, and Fernie; $2,500 is the maximum in Cranbrook/South Country.

4. CFKR recognizes that local non-profits have deep knowledge and expertise, specific to their areas of focus and communities. CFKR also recognizes that it is often uniquely challenging to secure funding for basic operational costs such as websites, insurance, rent, staffing etc. As a result, for CFKR’s 2026 grant application process, operating costs are eligible expenses.

Happy GivingTuesday! Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a special day to encourage and recognize generosity and charitable giving around the world.

Here at CFKR, our favourite way to celebrate is by announcing the recipient of CFKR's 2025 Knights of Pythias Community Volunteer Award: Tony Bourke! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

CFKR's Community Volunteer Award recognizes an unsung hero, who generously volunteers their time and energy in a quiet, dedicated, and selfless manner, making a positive impact in Cranbrook and the surrounding area.

Tony is an inspiring community volunteer who truly exemplifies the meaning of this award. Starting at the Cranbrook Food Bank in 2011, Tony volunteers four days a week, expertly managing β€œTony’s Bread Shed”, weighing and recording incoming donations of food, and being an indispensable member of the team. In 2011, Tony also began his volunteer career with the CHCA Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary/CHCA Thrift Store, sorting donations at the thrift store and assisting patients and visitors at the hospital. About five years ago, Tony joined the Key City Theatre volunteer team as well.

As the 2025 recipient of CFKR’s Community Volunteer Award recipient, Tony is designating the accompanying $750.00 donation to KidSport Cranbrook, to assist local children and youth with the costs of participating in sports.
