Cranbrook was established as a townsite in 1898 with the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway and subsequently incorporated as a municip

ality in 1905. The city resides within the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa (pronounced “tu-na-ha”) First Nation and is blessed with some of the most spectacular scenery to be found.

The fawns are returning and we’re starting to hear about aggressiveness from does who’ve got little ones nearby. It’s important to be alert and watchful, to give deer a wide berth wherever possible, and ensure your dog is kept on a leash.

We’ve had to close a part of 11th Avenue South between 3rd and 4th St South this morning (Friday, June 12) due to a significant water leak. Water service to area residents may be disrupted for short periods while Public Works completes the repair.
Drivers, please detour around the construction zone. We will work to reopen this area as soon as we are able.

A quick splash update from Western Financial Place: the pool will be closed for annual maintenance from June 15 to July 5 & reopens July 6.

Good news: the facility stays open Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 6:00pm, including squash.

Here’s the short version:
• Closed weekends and Canada Day (July 1).
• Pool desk: Open Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm
• Walking concourse: open June 1 to 10, closed June 11, reopens June 13, closed again June 23.
• Everything is back July 6 after maintenance, events and seasonal ice making.

We are currently in Stage 1. Even # properties can water Monday, Thursday, and Saturday; odd # properties can water Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday from 5am to 10am OR 8pm to 11pm – not both! No watering on Wednesdays.
