Join us at the Courtenay Library for an engaging afternoon author talk with local writer Elizabeth Meyer! Elizabeth will be discussing her recently published book, Coming Home: A Memoir.

Coming Home chronicles Elizabeth’s incredible life’s journey, beginning with her humble beginnings as a shy girl in a Mennonite community on Vancouver Island in the 1930s. Replete with joy and sorrow, love and loss, Elizabeth’s memoir captures the importance of family, maintaining faith in oneself through adversity, and the redemptive power of love. On National Indigenous Peoples Day, and throughout National Indigenous History Month, we celebrate the rich cultures, histories, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

One meaningful way to learn more about the stories, experiences, and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples is through books, films, music, and other works by Indigenous creators. We're pleased to share our newly updated 2026 Indigenous Voices Resource Guide, featuring fiction and nonfiction for adults, teens, and children, along with a selection of films and music from our collection.

Summer reading starts here!

🌊 Registration is now open for Vancouver Island Regional Library's Summer Reading Club and Teen Summer Challenge!

Summer reading adventures begin July 2, but now's the perfect time to get signed up and start planning your reading list.

🐠 Summer Reading Club (ages 0–12) invites kids to dive Under the Sea with books, activities, trading cards, prizes, and library fun all summer long. Registration packages are available NOW for pickup at your local branch.

We’ve been receiving some fun and intriguing games for our next Sunday Swap! 🤩

If you would like to declutter your game collection, we will be accepting donations until June 27th!

Please ensure that games are complete and in good condition.

Stop by the library on June 28th from 10-3 to find a new game night favourite!

Donations are not required to attend the swap on the 28th!
When you drop off your donations be sure to pick up one of our Sunday Swap stamp bookmarks! You will earn a stamp each time you donate to a Sunday Swap! Completed stamp bookmarks will be entered into a draw at the end of 2026, for a chance to win a prize!
