If you spot a turtle nesting and aren't sure what to do, contact the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Environment Program. Our team can install a turtle nest protector to help safeguard the nest from predators.

Many turtle nests are destroyed by animals before the eggs have a chance to hatch. Nest protectors significantly improve the survival rate of turtle hatchlings and help support local turtle populations.

If you see a nesting turtle:

Together, we can help protect these important species and give the next generation of turtles a better chance to thrive! 💚🐢

It's a colder spring but as we get into these warmer rainy days there will be turtles crossing the road ways. Let's slow down and help out the turtles.

We received our first call this morning which means it's turtle time!

We all need to slow down and keep an eye out for turtles crossing the roads. 🚦

If you find an injured turtle you can place the turtle in a container that the sides are double length of the carapace(top shell) of the turtle and has plenty of air space with NO water. Then you can message or call one of the numbers below for assistance.

Locally you can message the Akwesasne Turtles page and Amberdawn Lazore can assist you for Turtle Rehabilitation. 🐢

Or call the Nicandri Center or the Ontario Turtle Conservation Center and they can try and figure out a turtle taxi to get the turtle help.

Have you seen me locally? Comment below! It is salamander season, and they typically come out on warm rainy nights to travel between habitat in search of mates. You may find them under logs and rocks during the heat of the day!
