🌺🇨🇦 100 Years of Remembrance — A Beautiful Tribute by Kingston Legion Branch #30! 🇨🇦🌺

2026 marks the 100th anniversary of The Royal Canadian Legion, a century of supporting our Veterans, advocating for those who served, and keeping the spirit of Remembrance alive across Canada.

What a wonderful way for Kingston Legion Branch #30 to celebrate this historic milestone with its incredible Poppy Drape Project! ❤️

🧶 9,516 crocheted poppies.
🧶 250 balls of yarn.
❤️ Countless hours of dedication, care, and community spirit.

Just think of the time and love that went into creating this remarkable tribute! Every poppy represents an opportunity to pause, remember, and honour the sacrifices made by our Veterans and all those who served our country.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their time, talents, and effort to make this project possible. Your work is a beautiful example of how our communities continue to honour the past while keeping Remembrance meaningful for future generations.

Congratulations to Kingston Legion Branch #30 on the Legion’s centenary and on creating such a memorable tribute. What an amazing accomplishment! 👏🌺

Lest We Forget.

📣 Campaign Update — Week 3! 🗳️

Hey folks! 👋😊

Another busy week on the campaign trail is in the books! 🚪🏠 Despite a shorter week with Thanksgiving, we’ve been out meeting residents, hearing your concerns, and covering more ground throughout Cornwall.

We’re approaching 400 residents connected with and nearly 900 doors knocked on! 💪 That’s a lot of steps, conversations, and even a few snacks along the way! 😂🍪

🏢 Commercial development continues to be the biggest topic I’m hearing at the doors, with traffic safety also high on the list.

I’ve put together a full recap of Week 3, including campaign highlights, what I’m hearing from residents, and a reminder about the first advance poll this Saturday, October 24th, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the APM Centre! 🗳️

👇 Check out the full update on my campaign website!

A huge thank-you to everyone who has welcomed us at the door, helped with signs, volunteered, or offered words of encouragement. ❤️ This really is a team effort, and I appreciate every bit of support!

If we haven’t connected yet, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to hear from you!

Together for Cornwall! 🤝💙

🚨📢⚠️ Ferry Road Speed Limit Update 🚧

Just a quick update for everyone who travels🚗 the Ferry Road! The recently changed speed limit sign on Ferry Road has now been corrected to 6️⃣0️⃣ km/h by the provincial Department of Transportation. ✅

Following concerns about the speed limit in this area, our Public Works (PW) Committee (Chair Steven Campbell- Town of Cornwall Council and I) directed PW staff to connect with provincial transportation officials to have the matter addressed. 🤝 Quick FYI - All roads/streets in Cornwall are owned/operated by the Province of PEI and fallnunder the responsibility of the Department of Transportation.

We understand that the previous, 4️⃣0️⃣km/h signage was frustrating and confusing for residents and motorists, so we're glad to see this has been corrected. 👍

Thank you to everyone who took the time to raise this concern with candidates at the doors🚪during this election campaign. 🗳️ Hearing directly from residents matters, and your feedback helps us identify issues, advocate for solutions, and hold the right people accountable. 💬

Throughout the final months of this council's term, Mayor McCourt and council will continue to listen, follow up, and work with staff and partners to address the concerns that matter most to our community. 🏘️💪

Campaign Update! 🗳️

👋 Hi folks!

As week 1 of the campaign comes to a close and week 2 is about to begin, I wanted to provide an update.

I had a great day canvassing door-to-door on Saturday, and I really enjoyed the conversations and hearing what’s important to people in Cornwall. ❤️

🏢 📈 Priorities of Residents

One theme that came through loud and clear was economic development. People want more commercial options in our town, and if I’m fortunate enough to be re-elected, I intend to make this a priority 💪 .

📍 A Few Campaign Updates

🪧 Campaign Signs

I’ve had several people request lawn signs, so we’re keeping a list! 📋 They should be ready tomorrow, so if you’d like one for your yard, just reach out and we’ll get one to you. 👍

I also have a few more 4x4 signs going up, so keep an eye out for those! 👀🪧

🚪 Canvassing Cornwall

I genuinely love going door-to-door and meeting people. It’s one of my favourite parts of campaigning. 😊 🤝

That said, Cornwall’s open-ward system is a very difficult one to operate in because it means every candidate is essentially campaigning across the entire town — nearly 4,000 doors! 🏠 🏠 🏠

A quick FYI on our Open Ward system: Unlike most municipalities in PEI, Cornwall isn’t divided into smaller wards or districts. In fact, our municipal boundaries are almost the same size as provincial District 16. That makes covering the entire town a significant undertaking, particularly when many municipal candidates are also working full-time jobs throughout the week.

After five municipal elections as a candidate, its clear that we're all very busy! 😄 On Saturday, I tracked my contacts and found that only about 28% of people were actually home. That number has been pretty consistent during past election periods, regardless of the day or time.

So while I’ll continue knocking on doors myself, getting to every door before the first advance poll is a challenge. 🚶‍♂️

🙋‍♂️ Volunteers Appreciated!

There are only 17 canvassing days until the first advance poll, on Saturday, October 24th, from 9 a.m.–7 p.m. at the APM Centre 🗓️ 🗳️

If you’d like to volunteer — even for an hour or two ⏰ — your support would be greatly appreciated! 🙏 We're hoping to organize a few campaign blitzes ⚡ in different neighbourhoods over the next couple of weeks, all in an effort to get campaign material to as many homes as possible before the polls open!

Of course, I’ll continue knocking on doors myself and will work with volunteers so we can maximize our time reaching people who are home. 🚪 🤝 At the same time, if you would like me to stop by your place, please contact me, and we can arrange a good time to visit :D

If you’d like to help out, please send me a message and I’ll get you all the deets! 📩

And finally, thank you to everyone who took the time to chat with me this week and offer their support. ❤️ Your encouragement, support, and willingness to share your thoughts mean a lot to me and my family!

Together for Cornwall! 🤝

As I reflect on my time on Cornwall Town Council, I think back to my first term, which began in November 2010. Serving this community has been one of the great privileges of my life. ❤️

Cornwall has been home to my family for generations, and for the past 16 years, my wife, Suzie, and I have been proud to be raising our children here. Like you, we love seeing our town grow and thrive. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed meeting with you, hearing your ideas, and working together to make Cornwall an even better place to call home.

I’m excited about what we can accomplish together for Cornwall, and I’m asking for your support as I seek a fourth term on our town's Council. Cornwall’s best days are still ahead! 🙌

I’m looking forward to getting out and seeing more of you. I’ll start canvassing tomorrow, Friday, October 2, beginning in Primrose Point, then heading up the road to Elliot Park, then over to Riverview Place. 🏡 Our campaign team will be supporting me by putting up signs around town and helping me reach nearly 4,000 doors across Cornwall. 🚪

I know life gets busy, and you may not be home when we stop by, so feel free to contact me by whichever means you like: call/text (902) 940-2434, Facebook, Instagram, and, would you believe, my TikTok is under development! Also, if you’d prefer to arrange a time to meet in person or virtually, I’d love to hear from you. You can book a time here: https://calendar.app.google/jahge54Hscsz3bNEA ☕

I believe good leadership starts with listening. I promise to keep bringing an open mind, thoughtful decision-making, and a collaborative spirit to the work ahead. My strong experience working with municipal, provincial, and federal governments has helped Cornwall build strong relationships and bring new opportunities to our community.

Please join me. Together, for Cornwall!

Today, I was honoured to take part in the Walk for Support of Truth and Reconciliation, hosted by West River United Church.

Her Worship, Mayor Minerva McCourt, Councillors Steven Campbell- Town of Cornwall Council and Cory Stevenson, myself, Reverend Franklin, Tayte Willows, MLA for District 16 Cornwall-Meadowbank and many members of the West River United Congregation started at Town of Cornwall PEI Town Hall with the raising of the orange flag, and then we walked together to West River United Church, where we gathered for refreshments and conversation.

Events like this are important because reconciliation starts with showing up. It starts with taking the time to listen, to learn about our history, to remember the children who never came home, and to honour Survivors, their families and communities.

As a community, we have a responsibility to keep learning and to make sure that the lessons of our past help guide how we move forward together.

A sincere thank you to West River United Church for organizing this walk and to everyone who came out and participated. It was good to see members of our community walking side-by-side in support of Truth and Reconciliation.

Every Child Matters. 🧡
