HISTORY
The Cornwall General Hospital opened 27 December 1897 and graduated their first Registered Nursing class in 1899. The last class graduated in 1969. An era of 71 ye

ars of change, free R.N. Education, free room and board for women and eventually men, came to an end. The Cornwall General Hospital then opened the R.N.A. Training school and another 21 years of nursing education benefited our community. In 2004, the Cornwall General Hospital and the Hotel Dieu Hospital amalgamated to become the Cornwall Community Hospital. In 2014, the hospital unveiled a honour wall to celebrate the combined nursing training of both CGH and HDH. The Care Centre (old C.G.H.) opened their business in 2016. The Co Owners Matt Cinnamon and Dan Orr have designated a prominent corridor to display the Cornwall General Hospital graduation photos and memorabilia. A professional design company will be contracted to reflect the vision of the

“ C.G.H., Down Memory Lane” project. Presently, the Partnership Group is fundraising to raise over $5,000.00 to complete the project.
