The date has been set for the next public meeting - September 15, 2022 at 7pm at the Afton Community Centre.

Did you know - answers to a range of frequently asked questions can be found on both the project site (planrmwr.ca) and the municipal site (westriverpe.ca). One question we get asked a lot is about whether people will have to change existing lots or houses. The proposed standards are for new buildings (such as setbacks) and new lots being subdivided. In the current drafts, residential uses will be permitted in the proposed Rural Area, Rural Residential, and Commercial Industrial zones.

A reminder to all that your comments and thoughts on the latest drafts of the proposed official plan and land use bylaw are requested by the end of today, May 10th.

The draft documents, as well as FAQs, can be found on both the project site and the municipal site.

Feedback can be submitted today by phone or email, or on the feedback form on the municipal site at bit.ly/WRplanfeedback.

Update: Upcoming Public Open House April 26, 2022 - DRAFT Official Plan and Land Use Bylaw

Council has approved an additional public session, which will be an open house on April 26th. At that time, we will talk about the revised DRAFT official plan and land use bylaw, including changes made after the public meeting on March 2nd. In the meantime, feedback is welcome and additional changes will be considered.

Next Steps:

March 18 - Deadline for feedback on current draft official plan and land use bylaw.

April 1 - (approx.) - Next draft to public

April 26 - Public Open House

Join us on April 26 for a drop-in style open house to learn more about the DRAFT Official Plan and land use bylaw, including the future land use maps. Stay tuned for more details on the session.

A notice for the April 26 Open House will be mailed to all registered property owners.

Based on the feedback from our 3rd public meeting, Council will be discussing the timeline for the project at our next regularly scheduled council meeting on March 10th.

In the meantime, the comment period is extended for the first draft of the Official Plan and Bylaw until March 18.
