We’ve gone back to our roots with our new name – Kinsight. We are all connected through a shared vision to create a world where Everyone’s welcome. Everywhere.

Kinsight is an accredited not-for-profit, charitable organization that has been serving the communities of New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra since 1954. It pays tribute to the families who founded our organization more than 60 years ago, and it underscores our vision for the future. You knew us as the Simon Fraser Society for Community Living, and while ou

r name has changed, our commitment to you, our families, and our community has not. “Family” is at the core of what we do. To us, that extends to the children, youth and adults we work with, our employees, our partners and the communities and businesses that we support and are supported by. Everyone belongs. This Pride Month, we invite you to join us for a free, relaxed screening of the award-winning documentary A Place Where I Belong – back on the big screen June 18th!

🌈 This powerful film follows six LGBTQ+ people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in the Connecting Q***r Communities (CQC) initiative as they strive for love, freedom, and visibility.

Thank you to family-owned Boston Pizza – Columbia Square, New Westminster, and their guests who generously participated in Boston Pizza's incredible Valentine's Day campaign! ❤️🍕

This yearly initiative supports local charities through the sale of paper hearts and heart-shaped pizzas, helping to make a meaningful difference in the community.

As a result of their successful campaign, Kinsight received $2,000. We are grateful for Boston Pizza's ongoing support of local families through the New Westminster Children's Centre, where we work alongside families of children with developmental delays and disabilities.

In recognition of National AccessAbility Week, Kinsight joined Coquitlam's AccessAbility Resource Fair at Pinetree Community Centre.

Our team connected with community members, shared information about Kinsight’s services and supports, and had the opportunity to meet Coquitlam City Councillors Steve Kim (left) and Matt Djonlic (right).

National AccessAbility Week is a time to celebrate the leadership and contributions of persons with disabilities, uplift the work of partners and allies, and recognize the ongoing efforts needed to build a more accessible, inclusive Canada.

May is Child Care Month in BC 💞

This is a time to celebrate the incredible child care professionals who nurture, support, and inspire children across the province.

Kinsight was honoured to partner with YMCA Child Care Resource and Referral and Spirit of the Children Society for our Childcare Appreciation Event featuring SHARE's presentation, 'Everyone Belongs at Circle Time.' Nearly 50 educators joined us for this engaging evening.

Working alongside families and caregivers, Kinsight Consultants partner closely with child care providers to promote opportunities for development and inclusion.

To all our educators, thank you for the patience and care you bring to your work, and for helping children feel safe and valued every day. 💜

Kinsight kicked off our events season with May Days this past weekend! 🌸

Amid the excitement, Kinsight staff provided a quiet, sensory-friendly space where families could take a break and recharge. With crafts and card‑making, fidget toys, games, and more, the space supported individuals of all ages to meet their sensory needs in a calm, welcoming environment. 🩵

“The zone was filled with visitors of all ages, from babies to youth, with everyone having a great time participating in all the varying activities," shared a Kinsight staff member who visited the space with her daughter.

We’re grateful for our partnership with the City of Port Coquitlam’s May Days team and their commitment to creating inclusive and accessible community events. 🤝

We loved celebrating Mother’s Day with our playgroup this week! 🌷

Families from our Infant Development Program, Supported Child Development, and the wider community came together for a morning of special activities and connection 🌻

Families enjoyed taking photos at our floral photobooth, planting flower and herb seeds together, and sharing pastries and tea. At the end of the morning, each family took home a special photo and a handmade flowerpot to remember the day 🌱📸

Today, we celebrate not only moms, but all mother figures and caregivers who nurture, support, and show up with love in so many ways. Thank you for all that you do! ♥️

Led by consultants from Kinsight’s Supported Child Development (SCD) and Infant Development Program (IDP), this weekly playgroup offers tailored activities in a nurturing environment where children (ages 0-6) can thrive at their own pace.

Led by parent facilitators, Now & Next is designed to help you create a vision and plan for yourself, your child, and your family. This is a chance to turn 'I wish' into 'I’m going to.'

In just a few sessions, you’ll walk away with:

-Strategies for partnering with professionals and other supports
-Renewed energy and hope for what’s ahead

A huge thank you to Boston Pizza – Columbia Square, New West and to everyone who participated in the 2025 Kids Card Fundraiser! As the local charity partner, Kinsight received $1865 for our New Westminster Children's Centre where we work alongside families of children with developmental delays and disabilities. 💛🍕

We are grateful to haven been chosen (again!) by Boston Pizza for this special campaign and thank everyone for dining locally, supporting inclusive communities, and making a difference one meal at a time.
