🚧 NOTICE OF TRAFFIC IMPACTS: Comox Road Paving Work, September 17 🚧

Please note paving work on a portion of Comox Road (see map) will take place on Thursday, September 17, from 8 am until 6 pm.

Impacts will include:

- Slowed traffic flow during time of work
- A lane shift will be in place for the duration of work
- Intermittent lane closure or full traffic stop for short periods to allow construction traffic to pass
-Pedestrian and cyclist lane detours

Efforts will be made to limit traffic queuing along Comox Road as part of the traffic management plan. Please obey all signage and traffic personnel while this work is underway.

Thank you for your understanding while this important work is being completed.

CSWM News: On Sunday, September 13, 2026 there was a fire at the Comox Valley Waste Management Centre in Cumberland. Emergency services were notified and attended at the scene. The fire was successfully contained to the mattress disposal area, posing no risk to residents nor staff. The fire has been fully extinguished and operations are proceeding as normal.

CSWM would like to extend its thanks to Cumberland Fire Rescue, as well as mutual aid who attended from the Oyster River and City of Courtenay fire departments.

The Comox Valley Waste Management Centre is open for regular hours.

On this day, Comox Fire Rescue honours the bravery of first responders, military service members and the heroism of citizens on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

We will remember the many lives that were lost on this day. Every year, members of Comox Fire Rescue run approximately 125 flights of stairs in their training tower as a way to ensure that we will never forget the events of that tragic day.

Today, we remember.

On September 11, 2001, 343 firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness continue to inspire firefighters around the world.

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb gives us an opportunity to honour those 343 individuals, one step at a time. Each step represents a name, a life, a family, and a story that must never be forgotten.

For us at Comox Fire Rescue, it is a privilege to take part in this meaningful event alongside fellow firefighters and first responders. We climb in remembrance, in solidarity, and with gratitude for those who ran toward danger when others were trying to escape.

We remember the 343. We honour their sacrifice. We will never forget.

📣 Stage 3 water restrictions lifted for residents and businesses in the Comox Valley Water System!

💦Stage 2 water restrictions are now back IN EFFECT 💦

Stage 2 Water Restrictions:

A person may only use a sprinkler to water a lawn and garden growing on a property on the following schedule:

- Even numbered addresses: On Tuesday and Saturday between the hours of 6 am - 7:30 am and 8 pm - 9:30 pm. They may not use a sprinkler to water the lawn or garden on any other day or time

- Odd numbered addresses: On Wednesday and Sunday between the hours of 6 am - 7:30 am and 8 pm - 9:30 pm. They may not use a sprinkler to water the lawn or garden on any other day or time.
