We The Wild - Doula and Birth Educator Enter Parenthood with the tools, support and care that every new parent deserves. Doula Support Magic.

Love and light to you all,

Molly.

Welcome Everyone who has wandered here.

My name is Molly and this is my passion. After experiencing a traumatic birth with my son, I found myself struggling with Post Partum Anxiety and Depression and thus became lost in the raging sea that new motherhood can be. The added adversities of being thousands of kilometres from my family during a pandemic made this transition even more difficult bu

t at the end of the tunnel, not only did I see a light I found my calling.

After being a certified social service worker for nearly a decade, I'd thought I would take this skill and blend it together with what my heart was telling me - thus began We The Wild.

This is parenthood done differently. This disconnected, isolating experience that has become motherhood in the western world is relatively new. Up until the 20th century, mothers were mothered by members of their family and community. It was a universal truth that becoming a parent was not only a transcending and transformational experience - it was hard. You needed a village and it was common practice to the mother to simply focus on this process. This new view that parents must carry the burden of it all, that it is weak or shameful to need help and connection and that it is taboo to admit the struggles that we feel as human beings, is disconnecting us and blurs our vision of our authentic selves. It's time that changed.

This is a community of no judgement, acceptance, understanding and support. Welcome.

We the Wild is the intergenerational connection with our ancestors. The ones who guide us, the ones who whisper universal knowledge and love. We the Wild is the humans who howl at the moon, that see stories in fires and secrets in stones. We the Wild is the sacred sister/brother hood of all that see the world for what it truly is.

Sleep 😴

The never ending topic and obsession in parenthood. When will you sleep? When will my baby sleep? I hate that my partner sleeps. Whats the best way to get baby to sleep? How do I safely co sleep? I'm worried about them sleeping in a Cot. Scheduling my life around naps sucks. I feel tapped out because my child sleeps on me. I love my child sleeping on me! My child only sleeps in the car. My child HATES the car seat and screams. I'm scared to take a family trip because my baby won't sleep and then I won't sleep. What's the best clothes for sleep?

The list of thoughts and questions is ENDLESS. When finally when your children do sleep well, YOU don't sleep well because you're up worrying about them!

There is an endless conversation about what is the best way to go about infant sleep, but the only truth is - do what feels right and do what is best for you and your family. Don't feel pressured to do it one way or the other. No one is happy when no one is sleeping....so find what works best for ALL of you!

For me, it was really important to connect with the earth and my surroundings when I was pregnant. It made me feel rejuvenated and like I had the energy I needed to get things done. I'd take long walks in the rainforest and parks around my house in Brisbane or I'd go down to the ocean and breathe in the turquoise water. This is one of the happiest times I had in Australia was when I was pregnant with my son. Everything felt shimmery and shrouded in golden soft light. I was more kind and soft. I noticed things I wouldn't usually. It was a very Mindful and grateful time in my life.

If you're every feeling overwhelmed in your pregnancy sometimes a short walk in the woods or simply sitting in the grass can really bring you back to centre and give you the grounding you need.

I missed international daughters day! Oopsie!

To our daughter's,

You have a light in you that's sparked from thousands of divine women before you who built the path for you to be strong and wild. You have all the power you will ever need within you. You are simply complete in all that you are. Never forget that we are stronger together and the world would love to see women divided. Gather your sisters and hold them close and whisper the ancient knowledge of all the women before you when they are feeling lost or you are lost within yourself.

Love, all women of the world. ❤️

Benefits of Delayed Cord Clamping 🌟

From ACORG.org

Delayed umbilical cord clamping appears to be beneficial for term and preterm infants. In term infants, delayed umbilical cord clamping increases hemoglobin levels at birth and improves iron stores in the first several months of life, which may have a favorable effect on developmental outcomes. There is a small increase in the incidence of jaundice that requires phototherapy in term infants undergoing delayed umbilical cord clamping. Consequently, obstetrician-gynecologists and other obstetric care providers adopting delayed umbilical cord clamping in term infants should ensure that mechanisms are in place to monitor and treat neonatal jaundice. In preterm infants, delayed umbilical cord clamping is associated with significant neonatal benefits, including improved transitional circulation, better establishment of red blood cell volume, decreased need for blood transfusion, and lower incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis and intraventricular hemorrhage. Delayed umbilical cord clamping was not associated with an increased risk of postpartum hemorrhage or increased blood loss at delivery, nor was it associated with a difference in postpartum hemoglobin levels or the need for blood transfusion. Given the benefits to most newborns and concordant with other professional organizations, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists now recommends a delay in umbilical cord clamping in vigorous term and preterm infants for at least 30–60 seconds after birth. The ability to provide delayed umbilical cord clamping may vary among institutions and settings; decisions in those circumstances are best made by the team caring for the mother–infant dyad.

What are the benefits of a lotus birth? 🌸

Practitioners of lotus birth claim the practice to have these benefits:

a gentle, less-invasive transition for the baby from womb to the world

increased blood and nourishment from the placenta

decreased injury to the belly button

a spiritual ritual to honor the shared life between baby and placenta

Have you thought about having a lotus birth? 🌻

This passed season of life really had had the theme of Birth. Rebirth, new beginnings and many people I love preparing to welcome their first children into the world. It's a wonderful thing to hear news of friends whom you know are more than deserving and eager to meet a baby. It's pure joy.

With joy there is duality which means there is sorrow. I also know people who have lost and yearn to be the one to finally spread the news that they too will enter parenthood.

In the end it is all love. Those whom love their children who are, children to come and children that will be, one way or another 🌟❤️

Who yearns for a moment of peace? Raise of hands ✋️

They sat it gets easier in the beginning and in many ways it does. More so because you become accustomed to the experience and routine of parenthood. The reality is, it's always hard. I wish someone told me that. That it is ALWAYS hard, but you adapt and you gain skills and you learn which makes it easier.

One of the struggles most parents have in common is craving personal space and time. Uninterrupted time to do whatever we need for ourselves. When our children become older they are still learning about personal boundaries and space. They want to be with us ALWAYS. The constant "mama", and needing to touch and be right next to us, the endless string of questions and noise...it's a lot. At the end of the day we're tapped out. We don't want to connect with our partners and friends because we have nothing left.

This isn't to say that parents arent grateful for the time with their children. But we need to start validating parents feelings on the days it's all too much. Because it is. There is nothing wrong with you. You still love your children. You are doing your best. You are a human being. You need rest and care and comfort, just as children Do. You need time to mother yourself, so you can be a mother.

It is OKAY, to not want to parent somedays. We still do it. We still get up and we still love and laugh with our kids but sometimes we miss the comforts of a passed life and there is nothing wrong with that. ❤️

Women supporting women. There isn't a greater bond, than when a woman realizes their inner power lies within each other. This is why the world yearns to separate us and divide us. Create envy and judgement. Once you are awakened to all the hurdles the world puts in place for women to keep us apart, you seek to sew it all back together.

Another woman's victory is your own. Another woman success is your success. Everyone is on a path and yours too will come and it will be celebrated by those you have celebrated. We are all apart of a similar journey and that is to find our power in our divine feminine and to seek to help others find theirs. ✨️

Guess what's happening again 🌙

I have deeply missed doing Moon Circles. Life got in the way the passed year, with moving back to Canada and restarting our lives and then moving to entirely new place. But now we are settled and things are slowly going back to a sense of normal. I believe that the simple act of sitting in sacred circle as women, has the ability to change not only our hearts, minds and souls but the entire way we shape and interact in our lives.

Come and join us under the full moon this November 8th and connect on a deeper plain.

Head to this link for tickets. Circle is held in Comox, BC
