Community & Social Services strives to help people see the possibilities that lie ahead. We offer a team of support, and we work together with our community partners to provide resources people need to move forward in their lives. We have tried to simplify access to our services and supports. People seeking support from our Department, start by contacting the Centralized Intake Unit (CIU) at 905-372-6846 or 1-800-354-7051, ext. 2001. The CIU completes an initial screening to assess each individual’s needs. From there, a team of specialized workers including financial, employment, childcare, family support, housing, food security, etc. work together to offer individuals a full range of supports to meet their needs. Are you a young parent with children under the age of 2 or a baby on the way? 👶👧👦

You're invited to join EarlyON Northumberland, Northumberland County, Rebound Child and Youth Services, Haliburton, Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit and Northumberland Child Development Centre at their Family Market! Meet other young parents and fill a basket with free child hygiene products and other supplies to take home with you.

If you need support with transportation to the event, please contact your caseworker.

We know, summer just started, but if back-to-school costs are already weighing on your family, we want you to know help is available.

Backpacks for Kids is United Way Northumberland's annual program supporting local families and caregivers in Northumberland County who are facing financial pressure, because every child deserves to walk through that door confident and prepared to learn.

✅ Available to children and youth residing in Northumberland County
✅ JK - Grade 12
✅ New backpacks with essential school supplies included
✅ Age-appropriate learning tools

This year we will be distributing 850 backpacks. The application portal is now open and will close August 7th, or when we reach capacity.

If back-to-school costs are weighing on you this year, this program is for you.

IN ADDITION...New Parent Hiking Babies is every Thursday!
Time: 10:00am - 11:30am
Location: Carstairs Trail in Northumberland Forest
Address: 1270-1296 Bowmanton Rd, Roseneath.
Meet the Educator and lots of parents and babes there for a wonderful walk and talk together in nature! The trail is not stroller friendly in the winter months, it is recommended to bring a baby carrier or baby sled, whatever is best for you! Meet us at the entrance in the parking lot and we are on our way by 10:10am.

If you have an infant ages 0-12 months and would like to become a participant of the New Parent Program please see the information in the flyer on how to register. We welcome you to join us!
