Celebration is woven through community life.

It can look like gathering together, sharing stories, enjoying good food, hearing laughter, and taking time to connect with those around you.

While these moments may pass quickly, their impact stays with us. They help strengthen relationships and remind us why coming together matters.

Here is a look back at some of the moments that have made celebration a meaningful part of community life.

Strong communities make room for youth voices.

High Bar First Nation’s Youth Steering Committee brings together youth from age 4 to 21, with space for members up to 25, creating room for young people to take part in community in meaningful ways.

Through hands on experiences like drum making, medicine making, and ribbon skirt and shirt making, youth have opportunities to build skills and learn from knowledge being shared across generations.

Throughout the year, they also fundraise toward youth trips that create lasting memories and shared experiences.

It is a space where youth are not just included, but encouraged to grow and contribute to what community can look like.

Today is Red Dress Day. We pause to honour every Indigenous woman, girl, and two-spirit person who has been taken from us — and to hold space for those who are still waiting for answers.

The empty red dress is not just a symbol.

It is a reminder that behind every statistic is a name, a family, a community.

Sisters, mothers, daughters, aunties, grandmothers.
They are not forgotten.
Llenllenéy'ten stands with all Indigenous peoples today in calling for justice, accountability, and real action on the MMIWG2S crisis.

🕯️ Wear red.
🕯️Light a candle.
🕯️Say a name.
🕯️And remember: honouring them means never stopping until every family has answers.

Red Dress Day is coming up on May 5th.

This day belongs to every family still waiting for answers.

To every community that has felt this loss.

To every woman and girl who deserves to walk through the world safely.

We see you. We carry you.

If you'd like to mark the day,
🕯️Wear red on May 5th.
🕯️Light a candle.
🕯️Say a name out loud.
🕯️That act of remembrance matters.

The Llenllenéy'ten people are guided by values that shape how we live, care for one another, and show up as a community.

At the heart of those values is the understanding that we are stronger together, and that the well-being of one is connected to the well-being of all.

These teachings continue to live on in how we gather, make decisions, and care for each other today.
