Effective at 12:00 Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on May 7, 2026, Category 2 and 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre. A map of the affected area is available here.

In addition to Category 2 and Category 3 open fires being prohibited, the following activities and equipment are also restricted:
• Air curtain burners
• Carbonizers
• Binary exploding targets
• Fireworks, as defined in the Fireworks Act of BC
• Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description, except when used for a Category 1 campfire as defined in the Wildfire Regulation
• Controlled air incinerators

This open fire prohibition will remain in effect until 12:00 noon Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) on Oct. 19, 2026, or until the orders are rescinded.

Category 2 and 3 fire restrictions effective this Thursday May.7th at noon.
Please ensure you extinguish your piles completely before this time, make sure there is no hot spots remaining.

Category 1 campfires are still allowed, but please use cation and have tools and water source nearby.

Wildfire season is starting once again, We have had requests for information on home protection and sprinkler kits. Blackpool fire rescue has home sprinkler protection kits available for public sale cost 💲 360 per kit Contact us via email pm, visit the hall or come see us Saturday at the wildfire preparedness display in Clearwater at Weyerhaeuser park from 12 noon til,3 pm. Clearwater fire and other agencies will also be on site to assist you.

Blackpool fire rescue and Little Fort fire crews are back in quarters after responding to a 2 vehicle collision on hwy 5. South of LITTLE FORT
Roads were very icy at the time, crew had to use both the jaws of life and power cutting tools to free the one occupant of the pick up that was 40’ down the embankment. Once freed Ehs and fire crews worked to get the occupant back up to the hwy and into a waiting ambulance
Traffic was backed up in both directions for several kilometres
