🔥 Fire Ban Update & Fire Safety Reminder 🔥

While the fire ban has been lifted, we're asking everyone to continue being careful when enjoying the outdoors.

🌲 Some areas of the municipality have received very little rain and remain dry. It doesn't take much for a fire to start, especially along trails, in wooded areas, or around campsites.

🚜 Heading out on an ATV?
Please carry fire suppression equipment with you, such as a fire extinguisher or water pack.

🔥 Having a campfire or using outdoor cooking equipment?
💧 Keep a water source nearby.
👀 Never leave a fire unattended.
✅ Make sure your fire is completely out before you leave.

A few extra minutes can prevent a wildfire and help protect our forests, homes, cabins, and communities.

🙏 Thank you to everyone for their cooperation during the recent fire ban. Conditions can change quickly throughout the season, so please continue to use good judgment and stay fire aware.

🌲🔥 Stay safe and enjoy the outdoors responsibly.

💥💥WSA has provided an update regarding conditions within the Spruce and Little Red River system.💥💥

Current water levels at Anglin Lake continue to decline, with inflows steadily lessening since peaking on May 17. At the current rate, lake levels and releases are expected to return to normal seasonal ranges by next week.

Water levels downstream in the Spruce and Little Red River system are also declining, although the recession will be gradual.

WSA has advised that no further notifications will be issued on this matter, as conditions and operations are returning to normal.

Thank you to everyone for staying informed and following updates over the past several days.

💥💥WSA Update💥💥
The current water level at Anglin Lake is 515.57m; the full supply limit (FSL) for the reservoir is 515.42m. Inflows peaked over the weekend and have been in steady recession. WSA staff conducted an operation earlier today, reducing outflows from 14.7 cubic metres per second (m3/s) to 13 m3/s. As inflows continue to decline, operational adjustments will be implemented to reduce outflows while maintaining progress toward returning Anglin Lake to FSL.

Although levels downstream in the Spruce and Little Red River system are expected to begin declining in the coming days, the recession will be gradual. Elevated water levels may persist which could lead to out-of-bank flooding. Note, WSA estimates the effects of the operation to reach the Highway #2 bridge crossing in 1-2 days, and the Little Red River Park in 3-4 days.

💥WSA Update💥

Emma Lake and Christopher Lake will now be above the top of their respective operating range. WSA plans to test, implement and pump this recreational season and are anticipating opening the Christopher outlet. Their intent is to keep the lake levels right near the top of their operating range. You can see the history in the graphs from last year (below) - they will continue to provide updates and graphs as the data comes in. With this years flood response effort and late spring they do not have the staff guages in yet and only have the one water level from April 28, 2026.

The normal operating range for Emma Lake is 515.42m to 515.57m, the water level as of April 28, 2026, was 515.59m. This is promising, given we went into the previous fall below the bottom of the range at 515.36m, measured on September 26, 2025.

Christopher finished the season below its operating range at 514.56m, measured on September 26, 2025. On April 28, 2026, the water level was measured at 514.79m, near the top of the normal operating range (514.65m-514.81m).

💥💥Update: We will provide updates on lake management plans as WSA officially shares them with the municipality.💥💥

We would like to clarify some information regarding the current water release by Water Security Agency (WSA) from the Anglin Lake dam.

The released water flows into the Spruce River system and then into the Little Red River. This release does not affect water levels on Emma Lake or Christopher Lake.

The only way water levels on Emma Lake increase from the Anglin system is if WSA activates the pump station and moves water through the channel into Emma Lake. From there, water would eventually flow into Christopher Lake as well.

We understand that water management updates can create concern, and we appreciate everyone taking the time to stay informed through accurate information sources. We will continue to share updates as they become available.
