Inspired by a love for science, an incredible bioglogy teacher (Mr.Grant), and a desire to help people, Tiina Kaldma knew early on that paramedicine was her path.
Tiina began her career in Essex-Windsor in 2005, expecting to stay just one year, but quickly grew to love the community and her colleges. That year turned into 17, including 13 years partnering with Lauren Dewar, precepting 13 students during that time.
After 17 rewarding years, Tiina felt ready for a new challenge and transitioned into Community Paramedicine in Perth County, where she embraced supporting patients in their homes and helping them navigate the healthcare system.
Her career continued to evolve as she stepped into leadership with Chatham-Kent EMS. Today, she serves as an Operations Manager in our Community Paramedic department, continuing to learn, grow, and collaborate with our community partners.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to help shape meaningful change and support positive outcomes for the people of Chatham-Kent.” she says. “Stepping into Community Paramedicine broadened my understanding of healthcare, system navigation, and the many supports available to individuals. My clinical skills have grown so much in the last few years, through both ongoing education and hands on experience, but what I am most proud of is how this growth has strengthened my ability to advocate for people. Ensuring that individuals receive the care, respect, and support they need, and helping find solutions that truly address the root of their challenges.”
Thank you, Tiina, and all paramedics, for everything you do for your patients, your colleagues, and your communities.
