Canniff projected to win by the media? How long until one of the candidates blames the media and claims the election was stolen?

The problem is, well black face or brown face has and always will be racist.

Digging in to defend said black face or brown face is worse.

Defending your racist makeup choice based on the context of the subject at the time you did it? Major fail.

It is my belief that the majority of Canadians would not support a white person justifying black face in 2022 because mocking slaves and owning them was ok way back then.

The right thing to do would have been to demonstrate that you’ve learned something since then and apologize. Instead your comments defending your actions have been picked up and published in national publications.

What a joke.

This is probably one of the best things things council has done in years. It is unfortunate that it took eight years to finally have a serious discussion.

How much Carolinian forest was destroyed in the meantime as land owners rushed to clear land in anticipation of actions being taken?

What will it take for people to realize that we have just one planet to call home? That we do need to have conversations around preservation. That we do need to share the land. It’s not all about us and our human greed.

Extinction is a word most associate with foreign and tropical lands far far away. It’s happening in our own backyards too. Don’t be so blind to think it isn’t.

Conservation isn’t a naughty word. It should be embraced. Our descendants too will only have one planet to call home.

Believing that the conversation needs to change concerning tree cover in Chatham-Kent, councillors approved a woodlot preservation motion on Monday night.

Welcome to Ontario, the only Police state jurisdiction in Canada. Police can now arbitrarily stop you and demand your purpose for being out and demand your address. No chance this will be abused by members of the police forces who are racist and hold unjust prejudices against visible minorities.

I heard a lot of boasting and blaming today. I didnt really hear the government taking blame for the mess we are in now.

Let me be clear, ALL levels of government have helped zip the body bags of our lost loved ones. They are ALL responsible for the failure to do enough to protect Canadians.

But here in The Police State of Ontario, Doug Ford acts like he has done nothing wrong. He didn’t prematurely open the economy, he didn’t ignore the science which predicted this outcome.... While he was worried about unpopular decisions Covid-19 was stalking Ontarians. By the time he was willing to make unpopular decisions he had backed the province into a corner it will not make it out of unscathed. And what does he do? Blame, blame, and blame. No leadership, no ownership for his government’s failings on the file. Just blame.

It’s a dark day in Ontario and the days are only going to get more dark with our provincial government making hasty decisions on the fly.

This is absurd. On July 21st it was announced the municipality no longer needed the old St. Joeseph School. They had originally planned to use it for the temporary long term homeless shelter. Property was then sold to Apollo instead. (Any other interested parties?)

Now we learn that council has decided to lease the facility on Merritt for this purpose instead, having approved it this week... but it sounds like this decision had already been made prior to July 21st.

This is such a poor decision. I know neighbours suggested that it’s a bad fit based on the stigma of drugs and mental health issues that many but not all homeless face.

However... Why would you not place this facility closer to organizations and government agencies that can help those who seek change? I welcome being corrected, I know very little about the homeless issues in CK. It just seems like a poor location tucked away from that the resources that those in need may need to use.

A new location for a temporary homeless shelter has been approved by Chatham-Kent council, despite opposition from neighbours and some council members. Before a report recommending the shelter be mo…

Maybe it’s time for David Colby to stop downplaying the risks to the community posed by COVID-19.

If you keep telling me there’s low risk or no risk I’m not going to change my behaviour, nobody is. If you keep telling me to there’s low risk and I need to do something, guess what I’m probably not going to take your advice seriously.

Continually telling the community there is a low risk and not to worry is the wrong approach. It obviously isn’t working. So, when are we going to try something different? One of the connectors on this news article is suggesting 80 people may have been in attendance.

How many new cases do we need before Colby will finally admit the risk is high and it’s never actually been low?

Public health officials are still working to isolate cases and trace their contacts after 12 new COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent were linked to a recent boating trip.

Unfortunately this seems all too realistic.

I see the pools are refurbished and full of water. At least the one in my neighbourhood is. What a waste.

There are four new cases of COVID-19 in Chatham-Kent.

Aunt Jemima the brand is being retired.

Big deal. If you don’t want to buy Quaker products anymore because the brand decided to rid itself of a character and brand with a racist history don’t buy them. Also, in keeping with anger against a company getting rid of a racist image be sure to follow through. I hope I don’t see those promising a boycott of Quaker products drinking a Pepsi or eating some Doritos. Follow through. Don’t pick and choose what you boycott based on convenience.

Damn, it’s a brand name and the products they produce are probably not even close to the ones produced 100 years ago.

The worst part about this whole thing? All I see are white people arguing about how ridiculous this is and why it isn’t racist.
