Chatham-Kent is not currently participating in Ontario’s Electric Kick-Scooter Pilot Project. This means electric kick-scooters are not currently permitted to operate on public roadways, sidewalks, trails, paths or other municipal property within Chatham-Kent.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 12, 2026! Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers is hosting the Children’s Safety Expo at St. Clair College Chatham Campus. This free community event is focused on child safety and protection.

Join us for a day of learning, connection, and empowerment.

⏰ Time: 10 am to 2 pm

The Children’s Safety Expo is a free, community safety event designed to teach kids and families practical safety skills through hands on demonstrations, interactive activities, and direct engagement with first responders. It’s hosted by Crime Stoppers Chatham Kent and brings together police, fire, EMS, transportation services, and community agencies in one place to deliver safety education in a fun, memorable way.

Key Features
• Live safety demonstrations - including fire extinguisher practice, Jaws of Life vehicle extraction, and a rollover simulator showing the impact of crashes.

• Emergency vehicle displays - police cruisers, motorcycles, ATVs, fire trucks, ambulances, and even an armoured vehicle.

• Free safety clinics - car seat installation checks and a kids’ fingerprinting clinic that provides families with secure digital ID records.

• Interactive learning - stranger awareness, digital safety tips, and hands on activities led by first responders.

• Fun extras - games, treats, food vendors, prize passports, and character meet and greets (like PAW Patrol).

Thanks to the municipal administration team, including Judy Shantz, Municipal
Clerk, and Chris Bantock, Election Coordinator, for hosting a Municipal Candidate Information Session and providing an excellent presentation for all candidates.

I also attended the Chatham-Kent Growth Alliance Municipal Candidate Open House at the Armoury, which had a great turnout. We heard from Mayoral candidates on a number of issues and candidates had the opportunity to answer questions and speak to electors.

I was pleased to have many conversations with residents about my platform and the issues that matter to them. I was especially pleased by the number of young people who asked thoughtful questions and were very engaged in the election process. It was great to see their interest in the future of our community.

There’s lots more work to do and I look forward to continuing to meet and speak with residents across Ward 7.

Chatham-Kent Municipal Candidate Open House

Wednesday, September 9, 2026 | 7:00–9:00 p.m. (doors at 6:15 p.m.)
The Chatham Armoury, 44 William St N, Chatham-Kent

The Chatham-Kent Growth Alliance is hosting an evening for residents, farmers, builders, realtors and local business to hear directly from the people asking for your vote.

Format: a mayoral fireside session first, with confirmed candidates Darrin Canniff, Randy Hope, Michael Bondy and Lauren Anderson answering one question on each of CKGA's four priorities. Then everyone moves to ward tables to meet council candidates directly.

CKGA's four priorities for the next council:
1. Consult early and often with farmers, growers, builders, realtors and local industry before major decisions are made
2. Fiscal responsibility and transparency
3. Invest in infrastructure — roads, bridges, drainage and servicing
4. Fair and sustainable taxes

The general public is welcome to attend and observe — seating will be available.

I attended my fourth meeting of the Encampment Advisory Committee last night as an observer, listening to the discussion and taking notes.

I acknowledge the hard work of the Committee members and Administration for their efforts on the development of a very thorough report that is going to Council on Monday, October 5th. I look forward to listening to the Council debate.

Homelessness and the encampment are among the top issues residents have raised with me at the door. I will be monitoring the discussions to see if there are going to be concrete, effective recommendations approved to address these very important issues.

If elected, these issues will continue to be high priorities for me and I am committed to ensuring they are addressed during the four year term.

Congratulations to the four lucky winners of the Chatham-Kent Public Library Wallaceburg Branch’s annual "Read to Ride" Summer Reading bicycle draw! Generously sponsored by the Wallaceburg Knights of Pythias, this annual initiative invites summer reading participants entering grades 1 through 4 to read for a chance to win a brand-new bicycle and helmet. Three of this year's lucky winners stopped by the library this past Saturday to pick up their new wheels.

After four long hot months of door-to-door canvassing and 53 days to election day, I want to wish my incredible team of campaign volunteers and their families a safe and an enjoyable Labour Day long weekend!

On Saturday, I officially launched my Campaign for Ward 7 Councillor. It was an amazing afternoon. Our emcee Peter Cobb welcomed a crowd of former colleagues, community leaders, campaign volunteers, friends and my family. Thank you Peter for your time and energy in making this event a success.

I spoke about my deep love for this community, my passion for a better more vibrant Chatham-Kent. I talked about my commitment to bring a New Voice, New Vision for Ward 7.

I want to also thank my former colleague and my long time friend Suanne Hawkins-McVeety, and my former teacher and football coach Bill Robinson for their support and for speaking at my campaign launch and fundraiser.

We are now less than 60 days to election day and I will continue to be in the community knocking on doors listening to the concerns of the residents of Ward 7 right up to election day on Monday, October 26th.
