VajanuaryCanada Vajanuary is a movement to amplify the menopause conversation across Canada - Launching January, 2027.

12/10/2025

According to The Menopause Foundation of Canada’s 'The Silence and the Stigma: Menopause in Canada' report, four out of ten Canadian women feel alone during Menopause and wish they had learned about it earlier in life.

This is precisely why our mission for Vajanuary exists.

We want to change the menopause stigma, break the silence around this critical health topic, unite women to share their stories, and work collaboratively to build a more supportive community through education, information, and personal experiences.

Together, we can 'Own The Change'.

HOLIDAY SELF CARE PSA

This is your reminder to take care of you.

When you’re making your countdown list for the holiday season, don’t forget to add in some down-time for yourself.

Women tend to be the ‘Secret Santa’ in many households, and often put their own health last. Switch it up this year and make you a priority! Treat yourself to some quiet time with a book, your favourite holiday Hallmark movie, a trail walk in the fresh air, or simply a sleep in morning.

Taking time for yourself, especially during the Menopause phase of life, is a rockstar way to ‘Own The Change’ on your own terms.

✨ “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘧 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘧 𝘺𝘦𝘵.”

Canadian TV & podcast host Melissa Grelo opened the 2025 National Menopause Show reminding us that menopause isn’t just about biology—it’s about prevention, mental health, and support. 💛

Vajanuary’s mission is to provide a platform where Canadian women can share these vital conversations: with professionals, with each other, and for each other. Whether it’s understanding our brains, caring for our bodies, or recognizing when someone else needs support, knowledge and connection are key.

Let’s amplify the menopause conversation across Canada—and make this second half our best one yet. 💪

💬 “𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺.”

At this year's National Menopause Show, Dr. Béatrice Séguin (Host & Creator of This Time of The Month YouTube podcast) reminded us that menopause isn’t just what's happening to our bodies—from declining hormones to shifting body composition, the 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 conversation is how we perceive ourselves.

Vajanuary is positive rally cry for Canadian women to OWN THE CHANGE; a dynamic platform for honest, empowering conversations about all aspects of menopause. It’s about rewiring that internal dialogue from self-criticism to self-appreciation and celebrating all of the incredible things your body can do. The goal isn’t fitting into old jeans—it’s thriving in the life you want to live.

This January, let's re-write the narrative surrounding menopause and own the change. ✨

As part of her session at the National Menopause Show, Dr. Amy Louis-Bayliss (of Lume Women + Health ) shared a staggering fact: it wasn’t until 1993 that women were required to be included in drug trials—and today, 75% 𝘰𝘧 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯.

Vajanuary is here to amplify the conversation around women’s health. By bringing together experts and creating spaces for honest discussions, we empower each other to understand our bodies, question outdated systems, and advocate for ourselves.✨

Knowledge is power—and together, we can own the change.

Attending the National Menopause Show last weekend was incredible! Limitless conversations with other women about their experiences, how they navigate Menopause day-to-day. As well as insightful medical information and tips from the presenters to help us all take better care from our mental health, to internal and external health at each phase of Menopause.

These are some of our key takeaways from the show!

🔸 EVERY WOMAN DESERVES QUALITY CARE

Although healthcare access can be challenging at times, you deserve quality care and medical information during Peri-Menopause though to Post-Menopause and the years that follow. If you’ve had a health condition that required an intervention that kicked off an induced Menopause or even early onset Menopause, you deserve to be heard. Advocating for yourself is a crash course in trusting your gut and asking for what you need.

🔸 TALKING ABOUT IT CREATES CHANGE

Talking openly about your Menopause symptoms with your friends, family and co-workers reduces the long-standing stigma that has cast a shadow over this inevitable phase that every woman will go through. Once you open up to others it removes the isolation we can feel, and you will no doubt have welcome support and understanding, especially from other women. Be sure to include your partners, men and teens in the conversation too, they can learn a lot from you. Speaking out creates common ground for progress and change.

🔸 MENTAL HEALTH IS KEY

Menopause can sometimes primarily be described in physical symptoms, hot flashes, brain fog, etc., but there is a huge neurological shift happening when your hormones drop which can create psychological stress, angst and depression. There’s no shame in seeking help for your mental health. This is a key component to overall quality of life especially during Menopause and the years beyond.

🔸 DON’T WAIT TO START PRIORITIZING YOU

Women are notorious for looking after everyone and everything around them. Often taking on many duties at work, as a parent and even care-taker of their own parents. Women care so much for others, putting themselves last, yet during Menopause it is critical that you take time to focus on yourself, your health and what you need for supports. It’s time to move yourself to the top of the care list. If you don’t no-one else will.

🔸 ALL STAGES OF MENOPAUSE NEED SUPPORT

We hear a lot about Peri-Menopause through to that magical day that our cycles end and we are officially Post-Menopausal. But then what? This stage will last the rest of your life, and additional health risks are at play. Whether you medicate with HRT or other means to manage your ongoing symptoms, it’s just as important to focus on your health even more-so as FUTURE YOU will thank you for it! What we do now to take care of ourselves, will pay off in our later years.
