Today was one of our favourite days of the Rotary Year -the presentation of the STRIVE Scholarships to deserving students from Colonel Gray and Charlottetown Rural High Schools. STRIVE Committee Chair Rotarian Pat Hughes presided over the presentation of 20 STRIVE Scholarships.
One of Rotaryβs most important commitments is supporting young people as they pursue their goals and develop their potential. For a number of years, Rotary volunteers have been going to Colonel Gray High School to run the STRIVE Programβ Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education, and this year we were pleased to add Charlottetown Rural as a participating school.
The STRIVE Program is not solely about academic achievement. It celebrates students who have worked hard to overcome challenges, improved their performance, shown leadership, and demonstrated a positive attitude toward learning and their future. These qualities reflect the values that Rotary seeks to encourage in our communities.
Today we recognized 10 students from each school who have demonstrated determination, perseverance, personal growth, and a commitment to their education with a $1500 bursary to the post-secondary institution of their choice. We applaud their dedication and effort and wish them every success going forward.
