The Spring Sitting of the Legislative Assembly has come to a close.

Over the last 10 weeks, our government remained focused on the priorities Islanders expect us to deliver on: strengthening healthcare, supporting affordability, protecting our land, growing our economy, and preparing Prince Edward Island for the future.

From Budget 2026 and investments in healthcare and housing to legislation focused on supporting Islanders and growing our economy, this session was focused on building a strong future for Prince Edward Island.

Congratulations to Donnie MacKinnon on being named the inaugural recipient of the Mark McLane Memorial Award.

Mark was a valued member of our caucus team, a dedicated volunteer, and someone who cared deeply about his community. Whether it was through sport, public service, or helping others, he always found ways to make a difference.

It is fitting that this award recognizes those who lead with the same generosity, kindness, and commitment that Mark brought to everything he did.

Congratulations, Donnie, on this well-deserved honour, and thank you to Ringette PEI for ensuring Mark's legacy continues to inspire future generations.

Some people become larger than life.

Forbie Kennedy was one of them. So much so that stories were told, books were written, and even songs were sung about him.

From local rinks to the NHL, generations grew up knowing the name, the stories, and the unmistakable personality that made him an island sports legend.

He carried his roots with pride throughout a long professional hockey career, but his heart never left home. Forbie gave back continuously to the community, whether he was standing behind a hockey bench or coaching, managing, and mentoring young athletes on the field. His passion for the game, fierce loyalty, and sharp wit left an indelible mark on Charlottetown and all of PEI, shaping both great players and great people.

Many are remembering not only an accomplished athlete, but a true character whose grit and generosity stretched far beyond the rink and the diamond.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, former teammates, and everyone reflecting on a legendary life well-lived.

We’re expanding transportation options in rural communities across Prince Edward Island through a new ride-share pilot program launching this summer.

In partnership with Kari and the PEI Liquor Control Commission, this pilot will help provide more evening and weekend transportation options for Islanders while supporting safer roads and helping reduce impaired driving.

The six-month pilot will begin rolling out in early June, with service based out of Souris, Morell, Eldon, North Rustico, Crapaud, Kensington, Richmond, O’Leary, and Tignish.

My thoughts and prayers are with Isabella’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone grieving this heartbreaking loss.

Islanders have been holding Isabella and her loved ones close in their hearts, hoping alongside them and keeping them in their prayers through this incredibly difficult time.

I want to thank the first responders, medical teams, school staff, and all those who cared for Isabella and supported her loved ones over the past week.

ISABELLA – CONSECRATED TO GOD
We want to deeply thank the entire community that has stood with us during this very difficult time. Every prayer, every cry to God, every message, every act of love and support has overwhelmed our family. You have been an answer to our prayers and an embrace from God in the midst of pain.
We also want to express our sincerest gratitude to the medical and healthcare staff at the IWK Health Centre and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown. As parents, and also as physicians by profession, we carefully followed every step of the process and treatment for our daughter, making sure she received the best possible care at every moment.
We do not have enough words to thank you for the care, dedication, humanity, and love with which Isabella and our family were treated. Your service has truly been a blessing to us.
As physicians, my wife and I deeply understand the weight, the responsibility, and also the privilege involved in caring for a human life. We know that those of us who dedicate our lives to healthcare do so with the sincere desire to be an answer for individuals and families in the midst of their need, using our skills, knowledge, and calling to serve with compassion.
For that reason, witnessing firsthand the commitment, professionalism, and human kindness of every person who cared for Isabella has deeply touched our hearts.
Thank you as well to the school principals, teachers, parents, and the entire school community who have reached out with messages, prayers, and generosity. Thank you to all the organizations that have supported us. Thank you to our friends, our family in the faith City Impact Church around the world, and our pastors. There are not enough words to express our gratitude for everything you have done for us. Thank you for giving of your lives and walking with us through every step of this journey.
As a family, we also want to thank God for everything He has spoken to us throughout this process. Our faith has been deeply tested, and our prayer has been that the Lord would find us faithful to Him until the very end. God has sustained our faith even in the midst of the hardest days.
We named her Isabella because we prayed for her even before her birth, and we consecrated her to the service of God while she was still in my wife Alexandra’s womb. ISABELLA is, and will always remain, consecrated to God.
Many miracles have happened throughout this process, and they will continue to happen.
After completing the necessary neurological studies and exhausting every possible medical effort minute by minute in Isabella’s care, the results have been conclusive. With deep sorrow, but also with the peace and hope we have in Christ, we want to share with you that Isabella has gone to be in the presence of the Lord.
Although Isabella did not receive the healing we hoped for in the way we expected — that is, in her physical body — our faith in Christ Jesus sustains us and reminds us that the miracle did happen. Today, Isabella has received a perfect body, free from pain, free from sickness, and free from every limitation. A heavenly, eternal body filled with the glorious presence of God.
To us, Isabella has been and always will be a miracle.
And as a family, we also want to become an answer to the prayers of other parents. For that reason, we have made the decision to donate her organs, believing that through Isabella, the miracle of life will reach many other people. Can you see it? Miracles are still happening.
Jesus Himself gave His life out of love for us. He was the greatest example of surrender, generosity, and sacrifice in the history of humanity. And we want to follow His example of love until the very end. It is our prayer that Isabella would become the answer and the miracle for other parents, just as she has been for us throughout her life. Forever and always, to God and to God alone be all the glory. May every knee bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Anyone who wishes to accompany us during the funeral services will be welcome. We will share more details as soon as we have confirmed information.
In the meantime, we want to thank you once again for so much love and ask that you continue surrounding us with the same respect, care, and human warmth you have shown us until now. As a family, we ask for love and respect as we walk through this season of grief.
With deep gratitude and love,
Jesus and Alexandra

ISABELLA – CONSAGRADA A DIOS
Jesus y Alexandra.

Initiatives like this help prepare Islanders for in-demand careers while supporting innovation and long-term economic growth across our province.

Thank you to Holland College, the Holland College Foundation, and the Weston family for helping invest in the future of PEI.

I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Robert K. Irving.

Mr. Irving leaves behind a lasting legacy across Atlantic Canada, including here on Prince Edward Island through his family’s long-standing ties to our province, support for communities, and contributions to our economy.

My thoughts are with the Irving family and all those mourning his passing.
