What an absolutely unforgettable day! 🎈✨

Yesterday, we hosted our 2nd Annual Community Access & Inclusion Expo at Credit Union Place, and we are still buzzing from the incredible energy in the room. Thanks to all of you, we had a record-breaking turnout with 35 amazing vendor organizations filling the floor! To every single vendor who came out, brought your passion, and set up a booth, thank you for making this event what it was.

A massive thank you to our wonderful partners who helped make this day a flawless success: The City of Summerside , and Credit Union Place, for the incredible hospitality and coordination.

We were so honored to have Minister Barb Ramsay join us to share opening remarks, and a huge thank you to the team at MyPEI/MyHealthPEI for speaking and sharing their vital digital updates with our community.

We also want to give a heartfelt shout-out to our brilliant ASL Interpreters from the Society of Deaf & Hard of Hearing Nova Scotians. Your incredible work ensured our presentations and launch were fully accessible to everyone in the room, and we are so grateful for your support!

Yesterday also marked a massive milestone for us: the official provincial launch of ConnectABILITY PEI! 💻

What is ConnectABILITY? It’s a brand-new, completely free, highly accessible online directory designed to bridge the gap between Islanders and the vital community supports they need. Instead of guessing keywords, users are guided by a simple homepage questionnaire to find the exact right services in their region.

Where do we go from here? This platform is only as powerful as the network behind it. Once our local community groups, non-profits, and service providers join, it will become the ultimate living map of inclusion for PEI, making cross-referrals seamless for frontline staff and life-changing for families.

Calling all PEI Service Providers! 📢
If you couldn't make it yesterday, the door is wide open. Head over to connectabilitypei.ca to check out how it works and get your organization on the map today!

Thank you again to everyone who came out, stamped passports, added a brushstroke to our community canvas, and helped us kick off National AccessAbility Week with such a bang. Together, we are building a truly barrier-free PEI! 🤝❤️

Happy National AccessAbility Week! 🌟

From today until June 6th, communities all across the country are celebrating NAAW. This year’s theme is "Building a Strong, Accessible Canada," and it’s a beautiful reminder that when we build spaces where everyone can thrive, our entire community gets stronger.

Here at ResourceAbilities, this week isn't just about looking at how far we've come since the Accessible Canada Act passed in 2019, it’s about celebrating the actual people, businesses, and organizations right here at home who are actively breaking down barriers every single day.

True inclusion is a team effort, and in the spirit of "Nothing about us, without us," we are so proud to collaborate with our incredible disability community, partners, and advocates to make Prince Edward Island a place where everyone can participate fully.

We have some massive things happening this week to put these words into action! Join us in Summerside at the Credit Union Place from 1pm - 6pm tomorrow, for our 2nd Annual Community Access & Inclusion Expo!

Drop a comment below to shout out an accessible business, an awesome advocate, or a barrier-breaker who is making a difference in your neighborhood! 👇✨

ResourceAbilities is proud to collaborate on the accessible taxi pilot in the capital region, an initiative aimed at reducing barriers and promoting inclusion.

This work reflects a strong partnership, alongside the expertise and high quality service of Pat and the Elephant, the continued advocacy of Spinal Cord Injury PEI, and the commitment and shared vision of our provincial and municipal government partners.

Accessible transportation means being able to get where you need to go, where you want to go… when you want to go!

We’re proud to be part of making this happen.

**News Release**

Pat And The Elephant is proud to be part of a new accessible taxi pilot project coming to the capital region this June.

Through a joint investment from the Government of Prince Edward Island, the City of Charlottetown, the Town of Stratford, and the Town of Cornwall, a new seven-passenger, wheelchair-accessible van will soon be in service. The vehicle can accommodate two wheelchairs and will operate seven days a week, with extended hours on weekends.

This pilot project is an important step toward improving accessible transportation options for Islanders and visitors, helping more people take part in work, appointments, community events, recreation, and everyday life.

“Pat and The Elephant is proud to support initiatives that strengthen connection, inclusion, and independence within our communities. Accessible and reliable transportation plays a vital role in ensuring individuals can fully participate in everyday life. We are grateful to be part of a collaborative effort that helps remove barriers and improve quality of life across Prince Edward Island.”
— Steve Brosseau, President of Board, Pat And The Elephant

We are grateful to all partners involved, including ResourceAbilities and the Spinal Cord Injury Association of PEI, for their work in helping move this initiative forward.

More details, including rates and booking information, will be shared as they become available.
