👣 This week, our September Steps to Success participants are taking an exciting next step as they begin their work placements in Early Learning and Child Care centres across PEI.
Over the past week, Steps participants took part in onboarding sessions with professionals from across the sector, helping prepare them for their experience in the centres. A big thank you to everyone who shared their time, knowledge and expertise with the group:
Melinda Chandler, Licensing and Compliance Inspector, Department of Education and Early Years
Kate Scotland and Kaitlyn Smith, Early Childhood Coaches, Department of Education and Early Years
Liam Corcoran, Executive Director, Academic Programs, Holland College
Heather Craig, Experience Program Manager, Holland College
Julie MacKay, Program Officer Intern SkillsPEI
We also want to wish our Steps to Success participants a fantastic first week in their centres! We are excited to see them begin this hands-on experience as they explore a career in Early Childhood Education.
At the same time, educators across PEI are heading back to Holland College as part of the Accelerated program to upgrade their educator level. Steps to Success participants provide backfill support in centres while these educators are in training, helping them continue their education while maintaining support for children and their colleagues.
Good luck to everyone taking a step forward this week! Your commitment to learning and growing helps strengthen Early Learning and Child Care across PEI. 💙
