PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: PEI Touch A Truck Cancelled for Sunday, September 13, 2026
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Summerside, Prince Edward Island – Family Place is announcing the difficult decision to cancel the annual PEI Touch A Truck event, originally scheduled for this Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Kool Breeze Farms.
Due to recent heavy rains, the fields at the venue are completely saturated. Bringing large trucks, heavy equipment, and a significant crowd onto the site under current conditions would cause severe, long-term damage to the grounds. As an organization, protecting the environment and respecting the beautiful space provided by our hosts is a core responsibility. The earth simply needs time to recover. This marks the first time since the program launched in 2014 that the event has been cancelled.
While an initial rain date was held, it coincides with a similar community gathering occurring in Charlottetown. In the spirit of community partnership, Family Place has chosen to support the success of that event rather than dividing attendance across the island or forcing our generous vehicle operators to choose between locations.
The organization is actively exploring alternative dates heading into October. Because the fall agricultural and community calendar is exceptionally full, a rescheduled date is not yet guaranteed. Families who received free admission tickets through schools and early years centres are asked to disregard them; if a new date is secured, new tickets will be issued to reflect the updated information.
We recognize this is incredibly disappointing news for the children who eagerly anticipate this day. We deeply appreciate the community's patience and understanding as we navigate these logistical challenges. Updates will be broadcasted and shared on our platforms as soon as a final determination is made.
