At approximately 11:35am today, Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of male who allegedly threatened a group of youths with a firearm near the Queen Parkade.
Through eWatch, the support of CPS dispatchers, and the quick response of officers, the suspect was identified, located and apprehended on Kent Street within minutes. Officers were able to mitigate the high-risk incident and arrest a 19-year-old male without incident. During the arrest, police located and seized an imitation firearm.
The investigation remains ongoing, however the 19-year-old male has been charged with the following offences:
⚫ Possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes (s. 88 CCC)
⚫ Assault causing bodily harm (s. 267 CCC)
⚫ Assault with a weapon (s. 267 CCC)
⚫ Uttering threats (s. 264 CCC)
⚫ Carrying a concealed weapon (s. 90 CCC)
⚫ Use of an imitation firearm (s. 85 CCC)
⚫ Failure to comply with probation order (s. 733 CCC) – three counts
He was also charged with theft (s. 334 CCC) and failure to comply with probation order (s. 733 CCC) on a separate matter.
The 19-year-old is currently being held in custody with a remand hearing scheduled for June 6, 2026.
