The Saskatchewan Association of Watersheds, in conjunction with its Southwest District Advisory Committee, is hosting a Prescribed Burning Workshop in Eastend on September 29.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for local producers, landowners, and community members to learn more about prescribed burning and how it can be used as a practical land management tool.

Before beginning any construction project — big or small — residents must have an approved Building Permit in place. This includes RTM's, new builds, garages, additions, decks, basements, structural changes, renovations and more.

The RM of The Gap No. 39 contracts two licensed Building Official groups:

Professional Building Inspections, Inc. (PBI)
Municode Services Ltd.

You may choose either group to conduct your plan review and inspections. Once selected, the project must be completed with the chosen group.

The Village of Ceylon contracts Professional Building Inspections, Inc. (PBI)

The Building Official will review plans and ensure compliance with the National Building Code of Canada (NBC 2020). Under The Construction Codes Act and UBAS Regulations, municipalities are required to enforce building standards through a Building Bylaw — and permits are a key part of that process.

🔹 No work can begin until the permit is issued.
🔹 All forms and documentation must be submitted in advance.
🔹 Starting work without a permit may result in delays, additional inspections, or enforcement action.

Farmers and agricultural workers who spend long hours outdoors face increased risks from sun exposure. The University of Saskatchewan and UBC are running a study to help improve sun safety practices — and they’re looking for participants.

You can join if you:
• Work in farming/agriculture
• Are 18+
• Work outdoors 2+ hours per day
• Have a smartphone
• Understand English

Participants receive sun safety messages through an app, complete short surveys, and earn a $25 gift card.

🚰 Public Drinking Water Advisory Lifted – Village of Ceylon

The Village of Ceylon is pleased to inform residents that the Public Drinking Water Advisory has been officially rescinded.

Recent testing confirms that the water system now meets all safety and quality standards. Regular consumption, cooking, and household use may resume as normal.

Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory

This Advisory applies to residents and users of the Village of Ceylon’s water distribution system, and is effective August 12, 2026 1:00 PM until further notice.

Pursuant to clause 36(1)(a) of The Environmental Management and Protection Act, 2010 this Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory is issued due to power outtage resulting in a system depressurization and therefore the safety of the drinking water supply cannot be ensured at all times. Therefore, pursuant to clause 36(1)(b) of The Environmental Management and Protection Act, 2010, consumers must be notified and follow the attached accordingly until the time the advisory is rescinded.
