Emergency Vehicle Safety Reminder

We’ve noticed an increasing concern in our community: drivers are not slowing down or pulling over for emergency vehicles. This is dangerous and it needs to change.

When you see flashing lights and hear sirens, pull over and STOP. Every second matters. Not yielding to emergency vehicles puts lives at risk—the lives of those waiting for help, the responders rushing to assist, and your own.

Please do your part. Stay alert, pull over, and give emergency vehicles the right of way.

Carrot River Fire & Rescue paired up with Nipawin Fire for the second part of rope rescue training. 4 members of CRFR attended and learned more about rope rescues. This training was the next part of training to build on what they learned the last time. As always, thank you Fire Chief Paul and your crew for your hospitality. As well as Instructor Darren Arseneault for your expertise! Always amazing to train with our mutual aid partners and neighbours!

Long overdue post.

While Carrot River Fire & Rescue fought the Battle fire in the R.M. last month, there are some huge thank you’s that need to be made.

The Outback Butcher: For the delicious meat sticks to keep the crew fuelled through the day.

Gieni’s: For supplying pizza for the crew after they came home after a long day.

Kunz’s: For the amazing subs for lunch for the crew after.

The community support that shows is absolutely amazing! These businesses are a huge supporter and we cannot thank them enough for their continuous generosity.

Thank you to the crews employers for allowing them to take time off work to attend to this fire.

As well as to the crew for their long hours, dedication and passion. I thank you.

Another challenging day ahead for Saskatchewan.

To everyone on the front lines fighting for Saskatchewan, thank you for all you have done and continue to do. All your hard work, passion, dedication and sacrifice does not go unnoticed.
Please continue to be safe and watch out for each other while working the lines.

For the members who have stayed back at their departments while others are assisting, please remember you are needed as well too. You need to be sure to cover your own response area and taking care of your communities.

To everyone who has been affected by these fires, Town of Carrot River, R.M of Moose Range and Carrot River Fire & Rescue stand with you in these trying times and are thinking of all of you.

Keep praying for rain and the safety for everyone involved.

Wildfire Awareness & Community Preparedness

With the extreme fire weather and ongoing Saskatchewan wildfires — particularly the SHOE fire affecting nearby areas and the BATTLE fire in our RM — we want to reassure residents that the Town of Carrot River and the RM of Moose Range are actively monitoring the situation.

Our Fire & Rescue team is prepared to protect our community and assist neighbouring municipalities as needed through established mutual aid agreements. These agreements allow us to both give and receive support, ensuring coordinated and effective responses during emergencies.

The decision to offer aid is carefully considered by both the Town and RM Councils, based on several factors:
✅ Requests from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA)
✅ Local risk assessments and available resources
✅ The needs and support of other affected communities

We are staying informed through official emergency response channels, and we trust our leaders and emergency personnel to act in the best interest of both our community and our neighbours.

Thank you to all those working hard to keep our communities safe. Stay alert, stay safe — and let’s continue to look out for one another.
REMINDER - TOTAL FIRE BAN CONTINUES.

05/30/2025

To everyone in the Carrot River area,

This smoke is coming from the SHOE fire north west of us by lower fishing lake area. The wind has shifted today and the smoke is going to be more noticeable over the weekend. Below are some things to keep in mind during heavy smoke conditions:

During heavy smoke conditions, everyone’s health is at risk regardless of their age or health status.

Limit time outdoors. Reschedule or cancel outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Please exercise caution and be safe this weekend.
